Tag Team Championship Number One Contender’s Battle Royal
AEW really does well with picking the right match to begin the show. This was a great way to open Beach Break. With most of the tag division already in the ring, it was interesting to see who got full entrances. Jurassic Express, The Inner Circle, The Acclaimed, and The Young Bucks all got the full introduction. I will say that Jungle Boy was treated like a star here and I can’t wait to see him go on a singles run. Battle royals can be tricky because with all of the chaos going on, it can be hard to juggle all of the different storylines. This one did well. I genuinely thought the Bucks were winning here…until commentary kept reiterating that they would face The Good Brothers at Revolution. I didn’t see Jericho and MJF winning here but I’m glad they did. Their win came at the expense of Sammy Guevara so, that story is still brewing.
Next Week: Darby Allin vs. Joey Janela
We get another Darby Allin/Sting segment where it is announced that next week,, the TNT Champion will take on the Bad Boy. Once again, Team Taz interrupts. Taz and company are outside the arena because of what happened last week. Taz says they’ll be watching real close next week. Ricky Starks calls out Sting and says that Sting isn’t the man he used to be. Sting answers back in typical Sting fashion. They are definitely getting involved in the match next week, right? I want to like this but I’m not sure if another full month of this is the way to go.
Thunder Rosa vs. Britt Baker
On paper, this could have been really cool. This feud has been building for a few weeks and this was going to be payoff. This did have that personal feel that I like for these kind of matches. There were was a high degree of physicality here as both women broke out some big moves. Thunder Rosa looked really good…until the finish. Reba very awkwardly exposes a turnbuckle that seems to be exposed for a very long time. As Rosa is about to gain the advantage but gets (kind of) tossed into the steel. Baker wins with the Lockjaw on the unconscious Rosa. I’m not sure what I wanted out of this one but I think I was expecting something different. Based on the finish, this program is probably going to stay the course.
Adam Page and Matt Hardy vs. Chaos Project
I still have no real idea as to what the endgame is for Page. Throwing him with Matt Hardy seems random but considering their real life history, it could lead to something. I could see Hangman getting bamboozled by the veteran some point. As for the match, it was fine. While I do enjoy Chaos Project, the outcome here was never in any doubt. Page nails Snake Man with Buckshot but Hardy tags in and steals the pin.

The Superbad Wedding is Here!
It’s time for another wrestling wedding. This ended like pretty much all other wrestling weddings before it. There were parts I really liked here. Anything with James Mitchell will have my attention. I also liked Miro’s meta insight to wrestling weddings, stopping interruptions and attacking random boxes in the ring. I did think the segment ran rather long though. This could have been trimmed down quite a bit and still be effective. I’m glad to see Orange Cassidy but the idea of a program with him and Chuck vs. Miro and Kip does nothing for me.
Lumberjack Match: Lance Archer vs. Eddie Kingston
This was a lot fun. Kingston and Archer have an odd chemistry that I really like. Archer diving over the ropes is truly terrifying sight. This did devolve into a textbook lumberjack though with heels on one side and the faces on the other. The lumberjacks did create some interesting interactions though. Butcher and Blade got to throw down with Bear Country a bit and I really want to see that match. In the end, Archer is able to hold onto Kingston for a Blackout and a win. I don’t think this feud is over but I’m not sure where to go from here.
Jon Moxley, PAC, and Rey Fenix vs. The Good Brothers and Kenny Omega
This was a great main event. Fenix was an absolute stand out tonight. Moxley and Omega were on fire pretty much the whole match. Gallows and Anderson really surprised me though. This has been the best these two have been in a long time. Anderson looked like his old self and Gallows was able to keep up with other competitors for the most part. I laughed pretty hard when Moxley hits a Gun stun on the Machine Gun. He did it really well. The Bullet Club boys get the win after a Magic Killer and One Winged Angel on Fenix. The big news here is what happened after the match. As Omega and The Good Brothers beat down their opponents, Lance Archer gets involved and makes a play for Luke Gallows. Moxley is about to go for Omega but gets attacked from behind by…KENTA! The Fang of Bullet Club destroys Moxley with a Go to Sleep. NJPW and the REAL Bullet Club is here!
