Moxley [c] vs 10

Brodie Lee is in a shitty gimmick. I thought that him leaving that other company would be great for him but he is not a great promo, he’s certainly not the worst but Erick Rowan is much better than him. The bar was set so high for him by the fans that I can’t help but think that he hasn’t met that bar. The same can be said for Moxley. I like 10 but I don’t think his wrestling style is fit for the Dark Order. Overall it was just kind of a weak showing for a champion. 10 would be a great opponent for Stunt or Paige or Orange Cassidy or Dustin, this sort of guy just isn’t enough to go up against your champion.

MJF vs Marko Stunt

Too long of a match just to get heat on MJF. Marko Stunt is a great opponent for people looking to get heat and Stunt shines in that role. It’s the role Rey Mysterio is put in a lot as well but the role fits Stunt much better. By the way “dynamite diamond ring” isn’t a thing, stop trying to make it a thing. Excalibur shouldn’t be on board with selling whatever they put in front of him, that shit sounds stupid. I don’t get the MJF vs Jungle Boy feud, it just doesn’t make any sense other than they are both wrestlers. There’s no way MJF should take a wrestler named Jungle Boy seriously which is why an underdog story where Jungle Boy beats mjf and forces him to take him seriously is much better booking. Instead, this mega heel that stays in character is actually going to wrestle someone named Jungle Boy. Starting them off in equal footing is a booking mistake.

Face to face with Arn and Jake

This went on too long and it was missing the actual competitors for the TNT Championship. Besides that it was ok. Jake the Snake continues to work his magic on the mic while Arn Anderson did a decent job. Too old legends that can’t wrestle anymore isn’t how a Championship match should be promoted though. A head scratching segment for a go home show.

Shida & Statlander vs Britt Baker & Nyla Rose [c]

So 2 wrestlers will have a loss hung on them for nothing. If you are a singles competitor there is no reason earth you should ever tag with anyone unless it was for a tag team title opportunity. Some of the best wrestling I’ve seen from Rose. Britt Baker refusing to tag in for a significant portion of the match was good stuff. There were still some hiccups as usual. Statlander clearly missed a kick Baker still fell, Baker may have also suffered a mild concussion during a move she took and a clunky winning combination.

Fenix vs Cassidy

Refs in this company are worthless, far more worthless than in that other company. The ref let another wrestler set up a ladder ringside. One of the wrestlers cheat while this is going on and the ref just let all of that happen, why are they even there? Have some sort of device or machine count pinfalls. After the match there was a mini brawl with the men in the ladder match to set up half ass executed dives.

Shawn Spears News

Dustin has retired according to Spears.

Not a bad segment, definitely something to move the show and stories along.

Sammy Guevara vs Matt Hardy

Was surprised Matt could go with a young stud like Sammy and finish him off. Hardy wins and finally it starts to look like a go home show in the finals segment. Paige, Hardy and the Bucks come to the aid of Kenny Omega, making the Inner Circle turn tail.

Honorable mentions

  1. Pac vignette, he still has beef with Orange Cassidy.

  2. Great use of the stadium but all the posing and arranged shots are a little much. I thought they weren’t supposed to be as contrived as WWE.

Final take

How do you have a go home show that doesn’t have it’s main event wrestlers on it? Everyone mattered except for Cody and Lance Archer. The final segment and main event captured the essence of a go home show but it was too little too late for me. John Moxley had more to say after his match but I just check out, I’m not interested. MJF should be going for the AEW Championship right now, that’s where my focus is but he’s trapped in a nothing feud with a guy that just isn’t important yet. I’ve got so many issues with this show that I almost didn’t write this article but here it is. DoN has its work cut out for it.
