The Butcher & The Blade vs FTR
Certainly a different kind of match that AEW is used to, not sure if it’ll translate well with fans. Also, the Butcher and Blade have not been built up as a credible act at all. FTR beats Butcher and Blade by going 50/50 then pulling it out in the end. All tag teams get involved after FTR win and the restructuring of the tag team division has begun.
Colt Cabana vs Sammy Guevara
Sammy goes over, which is a huge surprise to me because Cabana seemed like he needed to be kept a little stronger and Sammy doesn’t win anything so the win does nothing and weakens Colt quite a bit. Cabana talks to Brodie Lee after the match, now I am intrigued to see if Colt can pull off a different character.
Hikaru Shida [c] & Statlander vs Ford and Nyla Rose
Penelope Ford pinned Shida. So you have a tag team match for no real reason and you pin your champion, giving your champion a loss … Statlander is being absolutely buried on this program, she was number 1 contender just a little while ago. Rose and Ford get a win which is great for them but it is horrible for Shida and Statlander.
Role model
More Britt Baker being a Karen is good for character development and good television. I’d be careful with the Karen stuff though because it is a different world today. Big Swole feuding with Britt does wonders for both characters.
The Inner Circle vs Orange Cassidy & Best Friends
Best Friends better look over their shoulder, in their both Kayfabe and shoot lives because the division is definitely changing. Jericho freshly squeezed OC at the end of the match to add insult to injury. I like the midcard Jericho/Orange Cassidy feud, it elevates Cassidy and highlights instead of diminishes Jericho.
Marq Quen vs Cody [c]
Marq Quen lost like 5 straight matches and just hurt his leg, how the hell does he get a title shot for the TNT Championship?! Rankings and win/loss records don’t count for this title? He hasn’t even had a singles match of any consequence yet! So much is wrong with this. Cody won and a bunch of people come out and celebrate and gather around their leader Cody in AEW’s classic Benny Hinn way.

Final take
Sure, stories were advanced, in significant ways in some cases. In others, it was a shit show. I’m not even sure if Jericho is still feuding with Mike Tyson, we wouldn’t know because when AEW drops storylines they don’t give any indication. More to come on the Wednesday Night Warzone.
