Kip Sabian & Jimmy Havok vs Kenny Omega [c] & Hangman Page [c]

Omega took over at one point and dominated both Havok and Sabian. Hangman Page had his turn as well.

Commentary struggled at times, not sure what the issue was there. Tony and JR should have sat this one out.

Brian Cage vs Shawn Dean

Well, not how I wanted it to go down but the Captain faced the machine. Cage ran through Chi Town’s finest. Not a shred of offense from Dean but Cage looked amazing once again. The Drill Claw finishes the captain and Chico beats Chicago in the rivalry. Between Aaron Rodgers and Brian Cage Chicago ain’t got shit on Chico in those areas.

“Beat him if you can, survive if he lets you”

Jon Moxley confronts Cage and reminds him of who he is. The crowd was loud and annoying while Moxley was talking and it didn make any sense. Let the man talk and try and get yourselves over later, it was just random noise.

Colt Cabana vs Chris Jericho

Cabana took it to Jericho, giving him all he could handle. A great match for both men, Cabana looked strong while Jericho worked a match that was perfect for him. Really smart to put a Jericho match on right in the middle of the show, they should do that a lot more often. Jericho has words for Mike Tyson after the match. Orange Cassidy confronts Le Champion while Jericho calls out the baddest man on the planet. A money feud for AEW’s midcard.

FTR interview

Yikes, this was dry and too relaxed. I liked that they called out all of the tag teams in AEW. I just couldn’t get into the interview. It wasn’t the worst but the angle at the end certainly didn’t help. I don’t know where all of the crew came from but there were a lot of them and it turned into another pull apart brawl. Butcher & Blade look so generic and they are wearing the opposite colors of FTR so they make FTR look generic which makes sense because they both sound generic as well.

Big Swole vs Nyla Rose

Love the ring gear from Swole. Not a fan of the match, both wrestlers are just too green and the match didn’t flow like I hoped it would. I thought this match was gonna be really good but it was just serviceable. JR says Nyla is still the most dominant woman in the woman’s division. What the hell is Shida then?! A very ridiculous statement indeed.

Cody [c] vs Jungle Boy

So who’s the underdog? Who am I supposed to root for? Cody is bleeding, not surprised at all. Blood adds drama and that’s one of the things Cody goes to first, I’m sick of it. Jungle Boy didn’t really have a comeback, it just looked like he did, I’m not a fan of that.Jungle Boy is capable of more than what they gave him, he could have told a much better story than that. The match was pretty good, I personally hated the psychology of it, is what I’m saying.

Honorable mentions

  1. Tully has a gift for Shawn Spears. A lot of talk about that black glove from commentary.

  2. The Murdehawk talks to Alex Marvez.

  3. Matt Hardy offers to mentor Private Party. Not okay with them looking at the camera though.

  4. Britt Baker parody rehab video.

  5. Cage sends a warning to Cage.

  6. The Dark Order try to recruit Colt Cabana.

Final take

Not disjointed like most episodes but far from a homerun. I’d call this a double, it drove home a few plot points and set up next week very well.
