6 man tag alert…I mean 12 man tag alert
AEW certainly knows how to one up WWE in the ridiculousness department. What a mess. Anna Jay is looking on from the entrance ramp, gotta tighten up production holes like that. The match was non stop but I wish they had slowed down just a little bit, there was nothing to follow it was just all too random. The Dark Order picks up the win after some miscommunication and out comes a guy in full ring gear. The Dark Order had a guy wrestle in street clothes when they had that other guy in the back ready to go? What is this?
Santana & Ortiz vs Best Friends
What happened to LAX? They lose and drop to 7-6 then destroy a van? That’s not who they are…is that who they wanna be? Trent’s mom’s car is not a good angle for a stage team of LAX’s caliber to be involved in and I’m pretty disappointed that Best Friends aren’t champions because they’ve been the best tag team in the company from the very beginning.
Blood and guts
Breaking kayfabe isn’t just something you do to pass the time on a random show, it’s gotta mean something and Hardy doing it here meant almost nothing. Sammy Guevara recklessly throws a chair at Hardy busting him open, or so it seems. Hardy could have easily cut himself open, either way it didn’t look well planned at all. I’m assuming Guevara is going over in this feud but if he doesn’t I may just give up hope for this promotion, what little I have anyway.
The (not so) Great Debate
The best part of this segment was the “surprise” of guest moderator Eric Bischoff. Such a WWE segment. This is the type of goofy stuff they all but promised they wouldn’t do and they are doing it. It’s like a Bug’s Bunny cartoon. Best Friends save Orange Cassidy from a beat down and us from this crap segment.
Big Swole vs a former wrestler?
12 minutes, I think that’s how much time the women got on this show. That’s garbage time and it didn’t even feature their champion. It’s a shame really, the division is in shambles but the only way to get things on track is to utilize what you have properly. Britt Baker is being used very well. But while there are tag team tournaments going on, people like Nyla Rose are stuck in them instead of being on the damn main show!
Dary Allin vs Jon Moxley [c]
Moxley’s promo was good as always. The match was good but not much actual wrestling, I expected a different kind of match.Wardlow interfered but it didn’t go Darby’s way. The amount of affection Moxley showed Allin was so out of character it was ridiculous, he basically carried him off like the Bodyguard after the match. It all makes Darby look far too sympathetic and weak.
Honorable mentions
MJF campaign trail.
Picture in picture to commercial. Production decisions like that should have been left in 2019.
Cody [c] & Broski vs the Dark Order. Useless match, it didn’t tell a story, if it did, it wasn’t a good one. Cardona gets the pinfall.
Final take
The show has been easier to follow but it is still missing key promise and other production elements to properly set up matches but they have improved somewhat since October of last year. Things aren’t quite as disjointed as they once were but that doesn’t mean they’re good.
