Fatal bore-way
Yuka vs Big Swole vs Hikaru Shida vs Shanna
When I say this match didn’t do a damn thing for anyone, I mean this match didn’t do a damn thing for ANYONE! Shida won but how does she look beating these other women. All four of them needed the win but it actually made more sense to give the win to Big Swole since she confronted the champion last week. More boneheaded booking by AEW. The match was not the initial shit show it appeared to be but it should not have been on TV.
Sammy Guevara, Santana & Ortiz vs Jurassic Express
Jurassic Express win with an assist from Darby Allin making the Inner Circle look dumb for losing when they have numbers. The Inner Circle also looks weak for losing again before a ppv and Jurassic Express has a big man and still needed help. Who books this crap? Darby Allin stealing the commercial break cue card shit is old, once was enough, it doesn’t have to be done every week. The whole segment/match just looked corny as hell, especially if you were watching it in a bar like I was.
30 minute Iron match
Kenny coming out with the Young Bucks makes zero sense, absolutely none. “They are in the same group” yea but Pac isn’t in a group so there is no threat of getting jumped so just stay in the back. Omega wins 2-1 in the high quality match AEW needs that seemingly only these two can provide. Schiavone tries to interview Pac but of course it’s interrupted because no one does any interviews without being interrupted on this show. No one is supposed to just stand around and talk except Cody I guess.
Best Friends vs B,B &B
Best Friends win but not before Orange Cassidy has a goofy spot with the Bunny, yet another spot that looked lame as hell watching it at a bar. Another Tony Schiavone interview, just as pointless as the others.
Weigh-in
No real reason Moxley should have been at this thing than to get his hands on Jericho before the inner circle beat him down once again. Dustin Rhodes came out to remind us he has a feud with Jake Hager. Allin comes out to remind us he is in a feud with Sammy, then gets beat up. Jericho gets the last laugh and I’m left feeling like this PPV isn’t going to live up to the hype because they rushed the ending of the show, trying desperately to cram in any references they can to stories they built upon poorly.
Honorable mentions
Jim Ross sits down with the elite about their tag team Championship match. The bucks didn’t seem serious enough until later in the interview when they were entirely too serious. Kenny was actually great Hangman overplayed his hand just a bit, things seemed a little forces but it was a good segment, the only thing that really seemed appropriate for a go home show.
No Statlander or Nyla Rose on the show.
In closing
AEW should really banish all women’s wrestling to Dark. I didn’t feel like this was really a go home show, it felt a little open ended. I don’t feel as if things are coming to an end with any feud taking place. Don’t worry AEW has its flaws but they can’t possibly do worse than Super Showdown.
