Jurassic Express vs Best Friends
Jurassic Express lose a really good match after Fenix and MJF get involved. The tag division is the best thing going in the company and the main reason to watch the show. Best Friends are probably going to win the titles from Kenny and Hangman. To be honest, Best Friends should have won the titles a while ago and probably should have been the inaugural champs. Jurassic Express just can’t seem to be booked consistently enough for fans to put any real stock in them. Sure they’re fun but I can’t take them seriously.
Brodie Lee vs Christopher Daniels
SCU have had beef with the Dark Order since AEW began so the story is built in for them. For Moxley, the story feels slightly rushed and forced. Scorpio Sky needs to face Brodie Lee after Lee loses to Moxley and that could be the start of Scorpio Sky’s push. Daniels should turn on Kazarian and break up SCU, they’re act is so stale in AEW.
Jericho vs Pineapple Pete
Cool vignette to set up Pete before his match to come out on fire. Jericho let the guy get in quite a bit of offense before finishing him with a Judas Elbow. Pineapple Pete might be a guy to watch out for, he may be AEW’s No Way Jose but he could be used well as a midcard title contender if he gets over with the audience.
MJF returns
I like what I see from MJF and I like what I hear. MJF seems to be moving into position to challenge for the AEW Championship after Brodie Lee loses at Double or Nothing. I like MJF as Champion, the only problem I have with it is that it’s a cheap way to get Cody back into the title picture.
Shida vs Ford vs Statlander vs Baker
This match wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, there were some horrific spots but the majority of the match wasn’t the worst match I’d ever seen. Shida won, Shida should win everything.
Proud & Powerful vs Omega & Hardy
Ortiz and Santana should be in title contention or holding the titles, instead they are in matches that don’t mean much in the tag division. Jericho stands tall with his Inner Circle and challenges the Elite to a unique match then literally smashes Vanguard 1.
Honorable mentions
Cody crashes into Dynamite to take out Lance Archer.
Final take
The show was a mixed bag, I didn’t hate it but I certainly didn’t think it was great. I’m in the middle when it comes to this entire promotion and that’s about as far as I’ll go for now. I am very curious to see how the show goes when the fans come back, I can not stand the faint crowd noises they have with the handful of people they have there, I’d rather there be no one present. There are some wrestlers’ and matches to look forward to but that’s a little too far down the line for me to be excited about right now.
