Cody vs Joey Janela

Useless match, Janela and Cody were fine but it was kind of long and didn’t accomplish much, not something that’s necessary for the start of the show. Janela looked good though, I wish Janela had more vignettes and more rivalries like Moxley because that’s where he did his best work.

Moxley [c] vs Kazarian

The booking of this match didn’t make much sense until afterwards when the Dark Order rushed the ring and beat up both SCU and Moxley. Brodie Lee challenges Jon Moxley for the title at Double or Nothing and Moxley accepts and is stomped out one more time for good measure. Good to set this match up right now although it is a little too soon.

Concrete Rose

Nyla Rose squashes her opponent as the rest of the women’s division looks on from the crowd. Nyla had a rough spot in the match, just as I was explaining to a colleague that she is not the safest worker, she does a very scary German suplex on her opponent. I’m not anti-Rose but I’m not a fan either. I think when audiences are able to come back that the women’s title needs to change hands.

QT Marshall vs Lance Archer

Marshall looks like a star, problem is, he’s not supposed to! Lance Archer has been caught off guard by more than one opponent, that booking should be saved for later, not in the early goings of a career. Archer should be squashing people, not letting QT get in his moves.

What was the point of Brandi’s promo? It was good but what was it meant for? Was it meant for a match with someone? I don’t understand why she really needs to be involved in anything, she just settled into the managerial position at ringside with the Nightmare Family.

Later on in the show…

Brandi is taken out by Britt Baker and Jake Roberts brings out an old friend. Fans didn’t like the spot but I thought it was fine, Britt Baker trying to get Brandi in the ring was more invasive than the snake was.

Let Sex God’s vs Kenny Omega [c]  & Matt Hardy

There was a lot of comedy to the match and it was a very fun main event. The story progressed as well so it wasn’t just a waste of time although it was kind of a throw away match. The Inner Circle stood talk at the end with their name in bright lights which if you’re one that needs explanations for everything, you should have some issues with that. Matt Hardy’s wardrobe changes were pretty funny, the match didn’t take itself too seriously.

Final take

An overall fun show because the last match was a reason to tune in. The things that were set up for weeks to come look interesting and Double or Nothing may just be a decent show even with a pandemic going on.
