Tag team something

No real idea for this match to be on this show. I don’t like Private Party but in the interest of the company and booking I wouldn’t have them losing if I want to build them up for title shots. Such a wasted match with a wasted L for Private Party, basically putting them at .500. Meanwhile, Kenny and Hangman don’t come as anything special. They didn’t even shoot an angle with FTR afterwards.

Lance Archer vs Joey Janela

I really wish Janela was a bigger deal so that it would matter more to both men. However, it was a good match, just didn’t mean anything. Joey Janela isn’t someone Lance Archer should be proud of beating and not only that, Janela lasted quite a long time for a “monster” like Archer. Sonny Kiss has a damn title match against Cody on Dynamite and matters far less than his tag partner Joey Janela…more on that in the Warzone column.

F the world

Tazz reunites with old friend, the F the world title. Since Moxley is M.I.A. according to Tazz, Brian Cage won’t have to worry about being an uncrowned champion. The segment was short but I wish it was longer, I wanted Tazz to drag more out of things. Paul Heyman is the gold standard when it comes to doing promos for monsters and I know Tazz can get there if given enough time.

Lucha Bros & Butcher and Blade vs Bucks & FTR

A tag team match worthy of Double or Nothing. It is long overdue for AEW to display their best division. The only problem is, it wasn’t the main event, it didn’t even start the show. Scotty 2 Holly aka Blade & Butcher should not have had the honor of sharing the ring with these great tag teams. There was some world class tag team follies in the match attributed to that team.

Nyla Rose

Nyla squashes 2 jobbers in a matter of minutes and informs us that she has sought the services of a manager. We don’t know who that manager is but it doesn’t matter because managers don’t really matter. Jake the Snake has done a good job at promos but not much else and Arn is literally a joke.

SCU vs Dark Order & Cabana

Backstage, we find out that Colt is in really bad shape but Brodie Lee leads his team to victory.

Colt is tagged in for the pin and excited to get another victory in AEW. Not sure where this GS are going but it seems like it’s supposed to have a twist thats supposed to be a big deal later but it won’t be, the Dark Order has no heat at all.

Orange Cassidy vs Chris Jericho

Not Jericho’s best match as he said but certainly not something to miss. If you’re an OC fan, then this was the match for you. I only wish this started the show and/or was for a title. Jericho won with a Judas Elbow after entirely too many nearfalls in the last 5 minutes. The ref was as annoying as she ever is but did a decent job in the important spots.

Honorable mentions

  1. Weak and “unique” video from Darby Allin. Darby has is ice cold!

Final take

Night 2 had loads of action and was easily a top show this week. I can’t say enough good things about how good the wrestling on AEW is. The order of the show was fine besides the main event and the big tag match. There weren’t enough payoffs to things for me to truly love this show but it was certainly a step in the right direction.
