By the numbers:
AEW: 730,000
NXT: 715,000

Again, the Torch continues to beef up the context of numbers, noting that last week’s episode drew over one million viewers. The same night head to head viewership is what the war is based on though so that really doesn’t mean anything. It’s good that people watch NXT and AEW but when they air live is the time viewership means the most.
The big deal here is that AEW and NXT both lost viewers from last week. If there was ever a time that both shows needed big ratings it would have been this week. There was a go home show for a PPV and the debut of several stars and the viewership went down. What this means is that FTR isn’t a draw and Cage is still relatively unknown. Even Mike Tyson didn’t move the needle.
Honorable mentions
Drake Maverick gets an NXT contract.
FTR make their in ring debut next week.
Final take
The bottom line is, wrestling fans tuned in for the very first episode of AEW and checked out for good. AEW does not care about getting new fans, they’d rather continuously farm on their diehards; cultivating a dangerous fanbase to feed off of.
