Raw Women’s Championship match: Ronda Rousey vs. Ruby Riott
Charlotte had a bit to say in an in-ring interview before this match got started and looked amazing while doing it. She also put over the fact that Ruby could win. Gotta love when things like that are addressed.
Ronda came out to a lukewarm reaction that quickly turned into a very mixed reaction. Ronda Rousey paid homage to the Sonya Blayde character in Mortal Kombat that she now voices.
Ruby Riott is humiliated and buried forever. Charlotte and Ronda are beat by the reemergence of Becky Lynch and Ronda will need stitches. Idk if they we’re trying to turn Becky heel or not but I kinda didn’t like it, no need to get any sympathy for Ronda.
Women’s Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber match: Nia Jax & Tamina vs. The Riott Squad (Live Morgan and Sarah Logan) vs. Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville vs. The IIconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay) vs. Sasha Banks and Bayley vs. Naomi and Carmella
Well the last 48 hours have been something but Carmella is the first woman out, along with her tag team partner Naomi. Go search Twitter if ya wanna see why those two women are in the news. This match started off with some nice moves and some good spots. IIconics and Riott Squad looked strong carried their portions of the match. When Carmella and Naomi came out the match a bit crowded.
A unique pinning combo from the IIconics eliminated the Fabulous Glow first. Nia and Tamina came out to eliminate IIconics. The Samoan team then went on to eliminate the Riott Squad.
If she we’re not still breathing I would thought Nia killed herself when she ran through a chamber pod. After Nia and Tamina’s elimination, the two teams that started it all we’re the last ones left to make history.
Mandy Rose and Sonya DeVille really earned their stripes tonight but Sasha and Bayley went on to become tag team champions after a crazy submission from Sasha Banks on Sonya DeVille.
A really good idea to put this match on first. Every team was put over really strongly. The teams looked stronger in the match then they ever did in the weeks leading up to the elimination chamber.
WWE World Championship Elimination Chamber match: Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Jeff Hardy
Rowan is banned from ringside to begin the chamber match. Heel vs heel, Bryan vs Joe leasing the way in the men’s elimination chamber.
Samoa Joe was the first to be eliminated from the chamber by a phenomenal forearm. Jeff Hardy came out on fire but was swiftly eliminated by the Champion, Daniel Bryan but not before delivering a beautiful Swanton bomb from the top of a pod to AJ Styles.
The Viper took his time wearing down his opponents. He eliminated AJ Styles after catching mid phenomenal forearm but eliminated soon after by Kofi Kingston.
Kofi and Daniel Bryan put on a classic as the last two survivors of the Elimination Chamber. Near fall after near fall as Bryan couldn’t put the 11year veteran away. Kofi went for it all when he left from the top of a pod but Daniel Bryan moved, seizing the opportunity to retain his WWE title.
SmackDown Tag Team Championship match: The Miz & Shane McMahon vs. The Usos
Miz dedicated the match to his family because he is extending his family. The Miz was as happy as happy could be. Miz is really living his dreams in the WWE.
The champs, Shane and Miz, controlled the match early but veteran tag team, the Usos, quickly gained the upper hand.
Shane hit a coast to coast but on his second attempt he was super kicked into Oblivion.
After Shane took out one Uso, the other was left to beat Miz after he turned the skull crushing finale into a cover. The Usos are now your six time tag champs.
Intercontinental Championship match: Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush vs. Finn Balor
Bobby Lashley started off the match and took it to Finn Balor early. The numbers game was in the champ’s favor; Lio Rush doing his part to let Lashley rest while he battled against the extraordinary man that can do extraordinary things.
Balor was being worked over for most of the match by the of is opponents. Lio Rush got greedy, trying to get the victory for his buddy with feog lash , missing wildly. It then back fired, allowing Balor to gain the upper hand and the Intercontinental Championship! Bobby Lashley took out his frustrations on Rush after the match however, the damage was done.
A well done match with a very unexpected result, putting over Finn strong.
Baron Corbin vs. Braun Strowman in a “No DQ” match
The match was going fine until Baron Corbin was put through a table and Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre showed up to aid Corbin. They ut Strowman through two tables with a triple powebomb so Corbin could win. This was a Raw angle that wasted everyone’s time. In fact there were a few Raw moments that wasted everyone’s time, like Lacey Evans walking down the ramp, then back up it and the Miz being sent home by Shane because he was too angry.
The crowd certainly conserved it’s energy tonight, only awarding great feats with their adoration. The biggest moment of the night was the hype the crowd gave Kofi as he was escorted to the back with his New Day partners. I halfway expected them to turn on him but this ain’t NXT. The night was weird but in a good way, storylines went differently but storylines most certainly advanced and characters were certainly developed…except Ruby Riott.
