Raw Quick Takes 11/1/21

Big time Bianca

Becky[c] vs Bianca

Bianca’s promo’s subject matter is just a lie, Becky is HUGE without a title, they could have picked almost anything else for Belair to say and it would have been fine.

If you want a great show, start it off with a great match, a long match, this is the sort of thing that is so over with fans over at that other company. That was possibly the best heel ending I’ve seen since the 80s or attitude era, it was fast and made every bit of sense. Bianca will now go tumbling down the card. Bianca needs to elevate everyone else to her level now, she is up there with the Horsewomen so she needs to build underneath talent The same way. My money is on Liv Morgan unseating Becky at a big ppv. (Later in the show, Liv Morgan emerged as a future challnger)

Rey vs Theory

The ref thinks Dominick interfered and disqualifies Rey. Theory is having matches with legends, before you know it, he will be in so.e major feuds with top talent and be a big star. This is a great feud that will no doubt be revisited during Dominick’s and Theory’s career.

The face of Raw

Seth and Big E have a confrontation. Seth is talking his usual shit when Big E comes out to let Seth have it. Kevin Owens crashes the party and wants a fight with the champ. Owens even mentions his contract expiration. For the first time ever, KO and E will face off. I’m excited by the match, two powerful guys that have dominated the midcard during the careers.

Contender’s match

Zelina Vega & Carmella vs Rhea Ripley[c] & Nikki A.S.H[c]

Zelina’s English accent is ridiculous and so are her and Carmella as a mean girl tag team. Typical tag team action but it’s just something for these 4 wrestlers to be doing. Not a fan of matches like this, all jokes and gimmicks and then the heels win, making the faces look like dummies. Take those belts and do something with them, make them relevant.

Did em dirty

Street Profits vs Dirty Dawgs

I like where the Dirty Dawgs are, Roode and Ziggler are two guys that can Emily be solo and make things interesting but they are also good as a tag team. RK-Bro at the commentary table meant there were definitely going to be shenanigans. Smooth remix Orton and Riddle’s themes, really cool that they don’t just come out to Orton’s music. Omos distracts the profits and attacks them after the match, Orton urges Riddle not to get involved.

Damian

Priest[c] vs T Bar

A no DQ match actually makes sense for once. Raw is having more variety of matches, at least a special feature each episode; I like this new season so far. T Bar is being jobbed out for a good reason but I am not so sure he can com back from it. Priest has a much better character now,, its more fleshed out and his explanation is great. Stupid CM Punk chants tried to happen, the match was good, no reason for that crowd to do that bullshit, they turned on Priest and started let’s go T Bar chants. This was a hard-core match and they turned on it, that’s gross.

Main event

Big E[c] vs Kevin Owens

Backstage, Seth offered KO help during his match but KO declined. Kevin Owens is definitely a guy that leaves it all out in the ring and this match was about as even as they come. Seth Rollins successfully turns Big E on Kevin Owens after hitting Big E while the ref wasn’t looking. Big E got a slick pin on Owens and E wasn’t believing a word of KO’s apology. Maybe KO does turn and faces Big E for the title o e more time before leaving WWE. I know Owens like working with Rollins so maybe they will be a team.

Final take

This new season of Raw is a much better effort than they’ve put forth in the past. There are new challengers for every title everywhere you look and the matchups are actually fresh. Seth Rollins does an excellent job of controlling the tempo of whatever show he’s on. I think everyone is enjoying Raw more these days, the changes have made a significant impact on how much more watchable the show is.
