Preshow:

SmackDown Tag Team Championship: Rusev Day vs New Day(c)

Rusev has worked matches in a way that let’s Aiden English shine and shows off Rusev’s strengths; you’d think that’d be enough. The New Day always put on a good show, which is why I think k it’s time the broke up and let others shine, sAnity could certainly use a push. I thought there was gonna be an upset but they just play with our emotions.

New Day retains

Maincard:

HIAC: Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton

Crowd was not feeling that Cell, it looks a lot less menacing when painted red for some reason but they warmed up to the match immediately. I could really hear people clearly, either it wasn’t a ton of people there or WWE kept the mics where the few energetic fans were…it was just great audio, when Randy Orton broke out that tool box I heard every single thing in it.

Every bit as brutal as they could get without stealing any thunder from a future match. The ole screw driver through the ear was a nice spot and the end was suitable for being the first match of the night and one of two HIAC matches. Imagine if the card, wrestlers, spots, etc. weren’t held back so you know who could get all of the best instead of working for it; imagine the match Orton and Hardy would have had with no limits. Definitely a great match between to veterans and about as hardcore as WWE is gonna get nowadays.

Venom is going to be PG13 and that’s a shame because they just let WWE show them up with this match.

Orton is your victor, that sick bastard.

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair (c)

Becky came in and put in WORK. Charlotte want an easy out but Becky still beat that ass and took HER title. Becky even refused to shake Charlotte’s hand post match. Charlotte looked slower than usual and just a step behind Becky, I’m not exactly sure why, could be apprehension from her last injury, could be that she isn’t as good as we all think…

Becky beat the woman so now she is the woman aaaaand NEEEEEEW…!

Tag Team Championship: Seth Rollins(c) and Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler(c) and Drew McIntyre(c)

Lots of shenanigans, as expected from #heelziggler and his new friend Drew McIntyre. Easily a Raw mainevent. The sequences late in the match we’re incredible, too bad Michael Cole and Renee screamed it into our ears. The closing sequence started off sloppy but boy did it end nice, Drew continues to shine and be the driving force behind he and Dolph’s success.

There was some good stuff in this match but these men have been putting on matches like this for months and this ne was PPV worthy, adding to their impressive resume.

Drew McIntyre Claymore’d Seth mid move to help he and Dolph retain the titles.

WWE Championship: Samoa Joe vs AJ Styles(c)

When the match made its way outside, things got interesting. This match was not without bloodshed and brutality. I feel like this match was the spiritual successor to Hardy vs Orton; all the brutality without the weapons and the cell. The finish was the best finish I’ve seen in a while; the look on Joe’s face was priceless as he realized that he had been pinned even though AJ tapped a second before the 3count. This fued is far from over which is great because things are going to get even better and even more personal.

Controversy withstanding, AJ Styles retains

Mixed tag match: Miz&Mrs. vs Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella

I don’t really know why but I love these matches. The double YES! kicks were great. Maryse has had her ring rust pretty well. Brie looked solid enough, as she has for weeks now. The spots were perfect, everyone played their rolls nicely. Maryse’s roll up counter was a bit sloppy but it found it’s mark eventually.

Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella may have lost here but they will get their individual victories soon, the payoff and build up will set D Bryan up nicely to make a title run.

Raw Women’s Championship: Alexa Bliss vs Ronda Rousey (c)

I don’t have to support Alicia Fox because she is black or because she is a veteran and I don’t; I support her because she can wrestle but instead of putting on decent matches they got her looking like she auditioning for the Labyrinth on Broadway. Ronda’s strikes look terrible at times, most of the times. Ronda is gonna have to be turned into a heel to get me to legitimately give a damn about her matches.

This match should have been another quick W for Rousey but instead it exposed concerns. Ronda wrestles like a heel and she is more skilled as an athlete than her opponents so her smack talking just looks weird, especially with her beating up smaller opponents like Alexa Bliss.

There were an abundance of both positives and negatives. One negative being Renee Young’s commentary for the match, it was a little Booker T like. One positive was Ronda showing more of her ability to sell unlike any other in the business because of her MMA background.

Ronda Rousey’s first title defense was going to be oversold on commentary and end in her retaining. Not looking forward to her and Nikki Bella; not even a little.

Univeraal title HIAC: Braun Strowman vs Roman Reigns (c)

Two men enter, they both beat the hell out of each other, then one legend, then the tag team champs, then the IC champ and his tag partner who are part of one of the greatest faction in WWE history, then out comes another legend, UFC fighter and former champion Brock Lesnar… You still think Vince trust Roman to do anything? He hardly lets him speak and when he mainevents it’s all smoke and mirrors; everyone has to carry Roman.

The match just got called off because neither man could continue.

Solid PPV until the M Night Shyamalan ending. This really spoiled it for a ton of people.
