NWA Power Episode 19 “Strictly Chaos”
Tim Storm joins Dave Marquez
Addresses the silly mama Storm stuff that’s been going on. Continues to go forward in his career despite recent losses. Latimer confronts Storm about getting in the way of him and Nick Aldis.
Danny Deals, who is the guy that’s been cosplaying as mama Storm, comes out to propositions Storm with a tag partner that could help him win tag team gold. Jax Dane returns and gets in the face of Storm. Danny Deals wants to get Jax Dane a contract and use Tim Storm to do it. Lots of stuff thrown at us in this opening segment. Latimer is clearly going to butt heads with Aldis in the future over sweet Charlotte while Tim Storm’s career is certain his future may be more bleak than he anticipated considering the returning Jax and the losing streak Storm has been on.
Nick Aldis calls out Marty Scurll
The pin striped suit was on point from Aldis as was the Crockett Cup pin he wore on his lapel.
Aldis gives Scurll a chance to back out of the deal . Scurll comes out Marty chants. Scurll takes the action to the ring, demanding to get things over with right that minute. Brody King keeps strictly business from jumping Scurll, great surprise for the live audience. This rivalry is heating up well, adding intrigue whenever necessary with appearances by Scurll and other “guest” talent.
Zicky Dice vs Matt Cross vs Ricky Starks [c]
Matt Cross gets his chance to drop a promo and it’s generic and dry, while his in-ring ability continues to be among the best in the company.
Cross does all the leg work only for Zicky Dice to sneak back into the match for the cover over Ricky Starks. The match should have been much longer since it had a 30 minute time limit; a big waste of talents like Starks and Cross that could have gotten quite a bit out of Dice.
Trevor Murdoch vs Question Mark
Joe Galli grills Aaron Stevens with hard questions about his toughness.
A quick match resulting in a win for Murdoch, poor booking to book a squash match against the Question Mark. A rare miss for NWA. The post match assault on Murdoch did nothing. I am not in favor of this feud because Murdoch has been building himself up a serious competitor, battling age and modern athletes for title shots and a spot on the roster. This is a similar story to Tim Storm so pairing them together as a tag team them splitting them to feud with one another would be a much better use of Murdoch also being relevant to Storm’s journals well.
Thunder Rosa [c] vs Melina
Melina expected thunder Rosa to lay down and hand over the title, Rosa wasn’t going for that.
Allysin Kay gets Melina back in the ring after Melina lost via count out only to be speared by Kamille who then stares down Thunder Rosa. I wish there was more development to what happened however, there is plenty of time to develop the necessary bad blood in the feuds presented in this segment.
Honorable mentions
Pointless May Valentine vignette.
Eddie Kingston goes after the Pope, the bouncers turn on Kingston.
In closing
A serious episode where wrestlers got down to strictly business. Pope and Eddie Kingston have an excellent midcard feud happening, certainly more compelling than one would expect.
