Shotzi vs Io Shirai [c]

A bad ass match. Io made Shotzi look like she is ready for the big time. Shotzi was tough but not tough enough. Shotzi is bruised and battered but her resume just got more impressive.

Ciampa on this

The former champ squashed Desmond Troy and is immediately confronted by Jake Atlas. Atlas was viciously attacked by Ciampa in the parking lot when Kyle O’ Reilly of all people gets in Ciampa’s face, making the save. Is this the start of a babyface turn for O’ Reilly?

Kushida vs Theory

A new attitude from Kushida carries him to an impressive victory over a strong young talent like Theory. Theory needs some wins very soon to keep from being buried.

Fashion Police [c] vs Imperium

That match was brilliant, few men can tell a story like that. Not much else to say about except that this is the reason why you watch wrestling. Fashion Police retain and the division will thrive with them as champions.

Xia Li & Jessi Kamea vs Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter

Great tag team match, the women of WWE are actually putting together a credible tag team division right now, SmackDown and Raw still need some work but the talent is there. I’m more and more impressed with Catanzaro each time I see her. Jessi Kamea is the newest tall exotic woman NXT is trying to build and she seems to be better than Indi Hartwell. Xia Li took the loss hard, she needs a heel turn badly and I think that’s exactly what we are witnessing.

Drake Maverick & Killian Dain vs Undisputed Era

I don’t know what to make of the new tag team but I’m a wait and see kind of guy when it comes to NXT. Maverick and Dain aren’t going anywhere when it comes to singles competition so a tag team seems like a workable idea. Undisputed Era is going to split soon and it may be for the best, I actually hope they find another leader, someone like Ciampa to turn them into ruthless assassins.

Thatcher vs Priest [c]

I am high on Thatcher and was hoping he won the title a little while ago but I understand why he didn’t and Priest needed the title more. I would have waited on this match because it was so good and Thatcher is a real threat, something you wanna save for when things get complacent in the division.

Honorable mentions

  1. Tegan Knox and LeRae do some more jaw jacking.

Final take

Strong episode, very reminiscent of the old days of NXT. Hopefully NXT can keep up the good work and forget about counter programming.
