Dijak vs Cameron Grimes

Grimes wins with help from Damian Priest, Dijak couldn’t dominate Grimes the way he really wanted to and that bothered him quite a bit.

This Mfer spitting

Balor drops another nuclear promo saying he’s done it all and built brands all over the world, Imperium interrupts and tells him Imperium only rules all of NXT. Balor vs Walter is next level shit, straight up. I can not wait for that match Mania weekend.

Xia Li vs Mia Yim

Immediately noticed the change in hairstyle and I love it, looks more traditional. Yim is still irrelevant, enter Raquel Gonzalez. Dakota Kai had Gonzalez attack Him, Kai told Him she remembers Him taking her place at War Games so this here is some payback. A great way to make Mia Yim a bigger part of the show again, a big win here may put her back into title contention.

Austin Theory vs Tomasso Ciampa

Ciampa wins a grueling match that displayed why Austin Theory is the future not only of NXT but this entire industry. His win is short lived because his former partner, Johnny Gargano showed up to get another piece of him. Another fantastic match that is set for Takeover Tampa.

Killian Dain vs Bronson Reed

Dain helped Reed out quite a bit, Reed is green but shows promise, what better way than to have Dain literally show him the ropes. Dain wins a short but tough battle. Bronson Reed needs a very serious and lengthy feud with someone in order to really define himself and his character.

Forgotten Sons vs Grizzled Young Veterans

Grizzled Young Veterans are great foreign heels and I guess Forgotten Sons are now babyfaces. I’m on board with Sons getting a push but will it work? GYV win but Forgotten Sons will be back.

Belair vs Flair

You don’t go here chants are the best! Lots of stutter stepping, a bit clunky and slow but still good. Charlotte isn’t as crisp as she was in NXT but few, if any, are. The match was a little shorter than I think it should have been but it was also a little bit too long for what they did. Both looked good enough, things could have been tighter but the match was entertaining enough. Charlotte tried to hurt Bianca’s leg by putting it in a chair but Rhea Ripley kinda sorta stopped most of the big damage from happening. Charlotte rushed to hurt Belair and definitely did some damage, a very very nice touch for her to keep hurting Belair even though Ripley was coming down the ramp; it’s the little things.

Honorable mentions

  1. Austin Theory vignette

  2. Velveteen Dream vignette

  3. Broserweights vignettes

  4. Dakota Kai has a backstage interview

In closing

This was a big show, it set the stage for the future of several rivalries. This felt more like a go home show and that’s quite possibly because there are TWO steel cage matches next week. Takeover Tampa will be the biggest yet, I feel as though it’s going to reach new heights, this show was just the beginning.
