Kross vs Priest
Commercial free to kick off the show. Kross dominates a very “telling” match. We learned that he is anything but smooth. Kross needs to be seasoned more than Connecticut BBQ. Priest needs to leave after this loss and go to Hollywood as Balor would say.
Gran Metalik vs Santos Escobar [c]
Beautiful match, every minute was great. Everyone was involved a little bit so Santos retained. This was everything I love about wrestling in one match.
Big trouble in little China
Xia Li in an impressive squash has reemerged and redefined herself. I would live for Io to have a real rivalry with Xia but I’m not sure that’s something NXT may be willing to explore.
Ripley vs Gonzalez
Last woman standing match
Match of the year so far. Very good spots, mixed with amazing storytelling. Dakota Kai put in a little work then
The Way
Dexter Lumis makes a match: Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae vs Kushida & Shotzi Blackheart.
Kushida pins Johnny Gargano. Put that title on Kushida and feed everyone you can to him, he should hold it for over a year before you even think about taking it off of him.
KOR vs Finn Balor
Better than the first but not better than what Rhea Ripley and Raquel Gonzalez did but still really good. Kyle O’ Reilly is going a a journey and its gonna be one wild ride. I dont know where things go from here but it’ll be one of the best things on the show.
Honorable mentions
Thatcher is out of the Fight Pit.
The Way annoys the NXT Universe.
Next Takeover is on Valentine’s Day.
Women’s Dusty tag team classic announced.
Final take
Best show of the year. I know the year just started but it will be very hard to top. KOR is now a major piece on the board and Ripley and Priest are likely moving to one of the Hollywood shows. NXT is shaking up; 2021 is going to be one hell of a year!
