NXT Quick Takes 11/11/20

Gargano spins the wheel and fate rewards him for his shenanigans. Leon Ruff was the name the wheel chose and the wrestling gods smiled on Ruff, bestowing him with the North American title and cursing Johnny Gargano. Damian Priest may have had something to do with it and after the match Johnny seeks revenge against Priest.

Santos Escobar [c] vs Jake Atlas

Jake Atlas was ready but Escobar was not willing to lose his title yet. Atlas looked good in his title shot but I think Escobar should be doing bigger things than feuding with Jake Atlas. Legado Del Fantasma should be the second most important act on the show right next to Finn Balor. 

Raquel Gonzalez vs Xia Li….Boa

Boa apologizes for Xia not being there and Boa is taken out by Gonzalez. After Boa is destroyed  a mysterious man hands him an envelope and marks him. I like it, keep it all going, who knows where this will lead? I do know one thing, Raquel Gonzalez is no joke and needs a push in 2021.

Toni Storm vs Candice LeRae

Toni is so far ahead in her skills that her matches look a little off now. As long as she carries the matches she’s fine but NXT needs to step it up. Feet on the ropes for the win, saw it coming but it worked for heel Candice. Indi Hartwell is terrible even when she’s in a mask. We all knew it was her and I don’t know why she is getting any kind of push right now. It’s time like this where I wish they had kept Tay Conti.

Lumis vs Thatcher

Thatcher attacks his student, destroys the artwork of Lumis, prompting a match between them later. Thatcher didn’t have any answers for Lumis but Cameron Grimes distracts Lumis so that Thatcher can capitalize. Grimes makes a statement with his post match beatdown.

Breezango vs Lorcan [c] & Burch [c]

Pat McAfee escorts his stable wearing “mini pants”. The match is great and I’m all caught up in it. There is something in the air and Breezango Breezango appeared as if they would make history. Drake Maverick gets involved and the win looks inevitable for the good guys, Dunne takes out Maverick and that’s all she wrote. McAfee takes out Breezango and Drake making a huge statement to Undisputed Era and the rest of NXT.

Honorable mentions

1. Shotzi gets mad about her tank, I don’t care what she says, the take ain’t that serious and represents silliness.

Final take

Fun show with great story, the stakes need to be higher though. The envelope needs to be pushed on this already great show. NXT needs to capitalize on its strong numbers and momentum.
