Damian Priest & Leon Ruff [c] vs Legado Del Fantasma

Priest carried the match well, it was mostly just filler. Ruff tags himself in and hits the ugliest splash I’ve seen in a while for the win. It was a fine match but it was all just a backdrop for the triple threat storyline going on Between Gargano, Ruff and Priest. Gargano on commentary was nothing special.

August Grey vs Cameron Grimes

Grimes wins easily and cuts a promo afterwards. Grimes also brutalized Grey with a strap before Lumis surprised Grimes from out of nowhere. Good midcard feud with someone moving on to something more meaningful after this is all over after War Games.

Jake Atlas vs Tony Nese

Great match for Atlas to reintroduce himself. The promo Atlas cut was a nice way to reestablish what his goals were for the audience. Atlas is working his way back to the Cruiserweight title picture, he needs some signature wins to show just how serious he is.

Imperium vs Grizzled Young Veterans

Ever-Rise are beat down before their match again, this time by the former tag team champs Imperium. Imperium replace Ever-Rise in the match and battle Grizzled Young Veterans for supremacy. A good ole fashion athletic dogfight. Very technical and wrestle-heavy match. I need to see this match twice a month. Ever-Rise come back to cost Grizzled the match by attacking Imperium and somehow I think Ever-Rise may be victorious in some sort of multi-man match coming up.

Ciampa as Ciampa can?

A special guest shows up for “Thatch as Thatch can”. Tommaso Ciampa tries to make a fool out of Thatcher but Thatcher’s student helps him get the advantage over Ciampa.

Shotzi vs Raquel Gonzalez

Raquel has got some mic skills, she showed them in a backstage interview earlier in the show. Everyone got involved by the end of the match, as expected. Shotzi looked good and she was victorious. Most of the people in this match have been in War Games before so this should be very interesting.

Honorable mentions

  1. Undisputed Era video package.

  2. Paterson tribute at the top of the show.

  3. Boa and Xia Li vignette.

  4. Pat McAfee and his merry bunch cut a promo in the middle of the ring.

Final take

Episode wasn’t bad, what was going on on the other channel was much more news worthy though. I like what I’m seeing in the tag division, would like to see a little more from some wrestlers but I can’t complain going into War Games on Sunday.
