The new NXT Champion joins us and issues an open challenge. Lazy booking unless they intend on people from other brands to step up.
MSK[c] vs Dain & Maverick
MSK’s first title defense is successful. The match was pretty good, made both teams look strong without diminishing anyone. Imperium attacked Dain after the match.
Kamea vs Martinez
Jesse Kamea challenges Mercdes Martinez in a backstage segment. Kamea should have done so much more in this match but I suppose just being involved with a maineventer is a big step in the right direction Kamea also needs some impressive ring gear. Martinez puts the new champ ,Gonzalez, on notice after the match.
Legado Del Fantasma
Liked the promo tying in his son as well. Another open challenge from a champ however this one is accepted by Kushida. Fantasma was not 100% and this was a bold move by a egomaniacal champ. Kushida catches Escobar off guard and becomes the new Cruiserweight Champion. Devlin finds and challenges Kushida immediately.
All gold everything
Raquel Gonzalez addresses the NXT crowd for the first time as Champion when Franky Monet interrupts. Love her music, sounds like Megan thee Stallion style music. Up your culo was an actual chant, the crowd loved Monet, she got a very warm reception as she put Gonzalez on notice.
Rhea Ripley’s music hits unexpectedly, the two have a brief stare down then share a big hug. Unexpectedly, Bianca Belair music hits and the three champions share avery special moment as all three are now champions and a picture of their first appearances in NXT is put up on the screen.
What a great moment.
Swerve vs Ruff
Ruff has some spots that have gotten very old but he can go, Ruff vs Swerve is a good go to match but I’m glad the feud is over as we have seen it far too much. Swerve wins and ends the feud, hopefully for good.
8 person mixed tag team
Dexter Lumis, Bronson Reed & the women’s tag champs vs the Way
The match had it all I would have opened with it or put it on in the middle but still good. I’m just not interested in half of the Way and the women’s tag champs don’t do it for me either. Lumis takes Hartwell away after she fakes being knocked out.
The Way lose and I think it’s a big mistake, end the show with a dominant faction getting a big win, that’s the “way” to go.
Honorable mentions
Swerve promo, much better promos, wish he was doing this on Raw.
Thatcher and Ciampa promo, they are coming for MSK
Dunne challenges anyone from any brand.
Sarah vignette she debuts next week
Zoey Stark interview, Mercedes interrupts.
Roderick Strong quits.
Final take
This show setup more feuds for the future but it was monumental when you think of it because it was the first show on Tuesdays and there was a title change! I’m looking forward to NXT continuing it’s great storytelling and in-ring performances.
