Kyle O’ Reilly sets his sights on and looks forward to life after Adam Cole. Kyle is just being Kyle, it’s a refreshing act. Cameron Grimes interrupts, Grimes wants to put money behind Kyle. This gimmick is really working. KOR is a personality that may go far in NXT, if Vince sees him he might love it. Miz and KOR would be an amazing feud, pushing Miz to new heights.

LA Knight vs Dexter Lumis

Solid match with real men. Knight wins when Indi distracts Lumis. Lumis is the next Kane, i kinda wanna see him go to Raw and have feuds as a heel. Jeff Hardy, Riddle, Randy Orton, even the Miz, all solid feuds for him on the main brand’s. Knight needs a very meaningful feud.

What’s next?

Beth interviews Io Shirai, the former champ is ready for a break, to heel from her historic run. Frankie Monet interrupts the interview and puts Shirai on notice. Love what they are doing with Frankie, she’s letting all the top dogs know she is coming for everything, too bad Io likes cats.

Sarray vs Stark

Great entrance from Sarray, the music threw me off at first but it was pretty cool. Zoey Stark is getting a bit much of a push, being Sarray’s first opponent is not an honor she should get so soon. So many others there before her and Stark is still green to WWE’s style. Now Zoey is pretty good but I think Dakota Kai would have been a much better opponent for Sarray. With that said, Stark would be perfect for a midcard title if the division had one, I think it absolutely needs one.

Toni Storm attacks Stark on the ramp after the match.

Kushida[c] vs Oney Lorcan

Wasn’t expecting that but I’m really glad Lorcan challenged Kushida because anything with Lorcan is a banger. Legado attacks Kushida, MSK save the day. Very smart to keep Legado in the title conversations because they have done great work and are excellent opponents for any champion.

Imperium vs Ever-Rise

Not so easy of a victory for the former tag champs. Ever-Rise had Imperium on the ropes until the very end. Good match for Ever-Rise to look like a serious tag team instead of the joke of the tag division. Dain stops Drake Maverick from attacking Wolfe ringside while Imperium destroy Ever-Rise post match.

Grimes vs O’ Reilly

Kross is backstage just before Kyle walks out, a physical feud waiting to happen. This was a different kind of match for O’ Reilly, sure Grimes is solid but we needed to see how O’Reilly could match the output of another top guy (in-ring for the NXT audience to see). Grimes needs more momentum. He lost as we all knew he would but he needs some high profile wins then because he is a guy you can put any title on at any time. KOR versus Kross would help solidify both as a big deal, gotta make that feud happen asap. Adam Cole needs to have a feud with whoever is in Zoey Stark’s position in the men’s division.

The Way

Austin Theory puts himself between Reed and the North American Championship.

Indi Hartwell is distracted by Lumis and gets

Candace LeRae beatdown by the tag champs in a backstage confrontation. Excellent body language from LeRae, she has been the best part about this faction.

Honorable mentions

  1. New opening for the black and gold brand.

  2. Ruff promo, it was good but I thought his feud with Swerve was over.

  3. Mercedes promo, Mercedes challenges Kai.

  4. Breezango imitate british guards and lose to Grizzled Young Veterans who are obsessed with tag team gold.

Final take

Very solid show with a great debut and plenty of characters moving forward. I’m so invested in this show right now that I wish it came on on Mondays instead.
