Karrion Kross
I absolutely love the old school X-Men blue and yellow Austin Theory wears, he’s definitely playing the roll of Iceman Bobby Drake in the Way. Still not enough Scarlett even though she is ringside. Kross wins easily and I’m not sure why we needed that match, seems more like a joke than anything. Perhaps they are going to have Gargano be the challenger after Balor and try to get some top stars to work with Kross to make him better. Balor is waiting on Kross after the win and demands his rematch.
MSK[c] vs Breezango
A breakup between Breezango is teased even though there is no real reason for it. Teams don’t need to break for one guy to get a singles push. MSK are great, they are the shot in the arm NXT needs, especially in the tag team division.
Raquel Gonzalez[c] vs Mercedes Martinez
The match was cool, not my favorite match from either of them. Martinez had a far better match with Rhea Ripley. Gonzalez is going to have to step it up and bring out a little more personality and intrigue with her character; she needs a stronger presence. Dakota will usurp the throne from her soon enough and Raquel will become an actual babyface, she’s already slowly turning into one.
Hit Row
It’s not a hit yet but I dig the promos though. Isaiah Swerve Scott has an entourage and they are called Hit Row, not thrilled about the name but it does make sense. I like how these wrestlers debuted, solid effort; they really got their point across. I don’t remember their names but I wasn’t trying to. They need to make me remember them, they need to make me care, they have my curiosity, they need to earn my attention.
Lorcan vs O Reilly
Kyle really has to fine tune his look and music because it’s all just a lil on the lame side. Kyle seems like he’s trying to hard and he needs to work on his body a little bit, his arms are a little too neglected. I’m not taking anything away from his body just saying that bigger arms would go a long way. O’ Reilly wins and Fish saves KOR from the post match beat down. Great match for Kyle to get a good win and for Lorcan to stay relevant.
Escobar vs Kushida[c]
2 out of 3 falls
The 1st fall went to the challenger but Kushida was quick to even the odds before the commercial break. Amazing story told throughout the match. This is the type of match NXT was built on, the kind of match other companies think they do well but fill with endless spots instead of good wrestling psychology.
Honorable mentions
Ted Dibiase strikes again.
Dunne calls out Kross but gets ruff instead. Dunne wins by ref stoppage.
Bronson Reed short promo.
Final take
NXT has a big show coming up, I’m hoping it grabs the attention of more viewers. NXT has been missing something, not sure what it is but it needs to get back to doing what it does best.
