Theory vs Oney Lorcan

You wanna talk about starting off with a bang? This is what NXT is all about, right here. Two really solid workers with the ability to do anything in the ring. Theory puts in work but loses.

Winner takes all

Legado make a statement, they want all of the gold and go right after Bronson Reed. Escobar calls out Bronson Reed but MSK save Reed from a 3 on 1 attack. Santos Escobar and Legado challenge the champs to a 6 man tag, winner takes all. Didn’t see that coming but what a great way to get these guys on the show in one match instead of separate, meaningless matches.

Swerve vs Killian Dain

Good match, I really like the way Swerve works, reminds me of Apollo Crews. A distraction gets Swerve the win. Dain wasn’t gonna win that match but he needs to be kept strong, not be enhancement talent.

Million dollar dreams

LA Knight and Cameron Grimes both have vignettes. They made their bids for the million dollar legacy, Ted Dibiase had a plan all along. Dibiase makes his way to the ring with bodyguards. There is a ladder in the ring now and both Grimes and Knight are arguing amongst themselves when the Million Dollar Man reintroduces the Million Dollar Championship which will be suspended above the ring. Incredible match coming our way at Takeover. So many possibilities with this title, it adds a much needed dimension to NXT and its midcard.

Who’s your Poppy?

Dexter gets a hug from poppy and Indie walks in on them. What if Lumis is dating Poppy in real life? That would be cool. Triple H has Poppy release her new album live on the air, a really cool moment when you think about it. I think gimmicks like that will help more casual fans tune in and hardcore fans will stay tuned in.

Popped

Tag team champ Candice LeRae calls out Poppy. Poppy walks out and says she isn’t a wrestler but she knows someone who is, out comes Io Shirai, the former champ returns with a bang. Io shirai kicks Candice LeRae’s ass and has an intense moment backstage with current champ Raquel Gonzalez.

Dakota Kai vs Ember Moon

Banger! I knew it would be good but not exactly PPV level, this could easily have been on any Takeover. I expected a clean win for Ember Moon.

Raquel Gonzalez beat her down until she got the best of her with an Eclipse. Should have ended the show with this match/segment.

Kross roads

Everyone is in the ring to confront the champ. Everyone says what’s on their minds and everyone gets their moves in. Adam Cole fooled them all, he was there all along and showed up to get the last laugh. Nice way to end the show , predictable but still very good.

Honorable mentions

  1. Breezango still teasing a breakup, maybe Fandango may join Imperium.

  2. Hit Row come out and talk trash to Escobar, keeping their options open.

  3. Xia Li attacks Mercedes Martinez before her match, Martinez still wins.

Final take

The show has gotten its spark back, even improving steadily in ratings from their initial drop. A good go-home show. In Your House in going to be one of the best Takeovers in a while.
