Dakota Kai vs Shotzi Blackheart

Excellent match to start the show, exactly what I was looking for; This is NXT! Big win for Shotzi and a big bump too. Shotzi has to limit that sort of activity because her bump card is going to fill up before she gets to the main roster. Dakota Kai losing may mean her push is coming to an end. The only good thing about Dakota Kai losing is the opportunity for Raquel Gonzalez to rise. There was a confrontation between Rhea Ripley and Gonzalez outside the ring and I can’t wait to see the matches in that feud payoff.

Stepping stones to the moon

Cameron Grimes arranges a gauntlet match full of jobbers to squash and all goes according to plan until Ridge Holland interrupts and beats Grimes. Cameron Grimes’ character is a good one for NXT, he will find himself always near a title scene because of his ability to get heat, as well as being super solid in the ring. Grimes is also a great stepping stone for Holland. If Holland has mic skills and can bring it in the ring, we are going to see it all during this feud.

Kayden Carter vs Xia Li

Xia takes another L and does not take it well. Kayden Carter is a solid wrestler and will be successful on the main roster, this better be the start of a push for both Xia and Carter. Li has needed a fresh look for quite some time now, shws going to look great in Black leather like all of the other heels and badasses.

Kushida vs Tony Nese

Great match, quick match. Nese needs some retooling done to his character but he is a great job guy that makes competitors look strong. Kushida got a win, just in time for the Dream to taunt him from the big screen. This is a make or break match for the Dream.

Undisputed Club

Kyle O’ Reilly and Finn Balor come face to face while the legendary Shawn Michaels acts as special moderator. Bother men were strong, brimming with confidence but we all know how this ends. I hope that this feud continues a while longer, I want more story and more matches from these two and I haven’t even gotten the first one yet.

Adam Cole vs Austin Theory

Another great showing from Theory, another loss in his young career. Good thing his career is young. My Theory is that Austin will be pushed after he loses some more a d is forced to fine tune his character in kkayfabe.cole gives O’ Reilly his blessings, assuring the NXT Universe that the system will be shocked yet again.

Io [c] & Priest [c] vs the Garganos

This match could have also started the show. Priest and Shirai are an awesome team, they are both rockstars with an aggressive style that

The Garganos get the last laugh and hold the titles high, there’s no way either of them are winning now. I’m sure the matches will be every bit as good as this one but I have a hard time believing either would win.

Honorable mentions

  1. Dexter Lumis returns backstage

  2. Swerve and Santos smack talk each other

  3. Mystery message

Final take

NXT is going to usher in a new era with a new look and feel, this show was more of the same. More of the same is great from an in ring point of view and in ready for Takeover but I wonder how this show would have been if it had a facelift. Bring it on!
