Winners take all
Legado Del Fantasmavs MSK[c] & Bronson Reed[c]
Six man tag with everything on the line sounds good to start a big show. No idea why the crowd actually dislikes MSK, you could say its because they remind them of AEW but I think its one of them they particularly don’t like. This crowd wasn’t hot for this match until later but when things heated up they got red hot. I liked everything about the match, the Champs are cool and they have great challengers. The good guys win and everyone goes home happy.
Xia Li vs Mercedes Martinez
Long term storytelling by the best wrestling company in the world. This was a big match for Xia. She has come a long way, this was the test to see if she could put it all together. She was amazing, great heel work mixed with her unique athleticism. Xia wins a really good match. Boa throws in a chair and they try to take Mercedes out after the match. Mercedes gets a hold of the chair, destroying both Boa and Xia. Mei Ying rises from her throne, choking Martinez and throwing her into the reinforced plexiglass. A really badass moment for a badass match.
Million Dollar Legacy
Cameron Grimes vs LA Knight
My kids’ favorites. I was pretty sure LA Knight was gonna win and he did. Looks like they called it all in the ring, made the match feel more authentic. Knight really feels at home in NXT, he is clicking on all cylinders. Cameron Grimes is over with the crowd and has nothing to worry about even thought he lost.
Raquel Gonzalez[c] vs Ember Moon
Raquel was on the ropes against the experienced Moon. I liked this match a lot and in some ways it was the best match on the show. Shotzi returns to give Ember a chance but that doesn’t end well and Gonzalez retains in her biggest challenge yet.
Karrion Kross vs KOR vs Adam Cole vs Gargano vs Pete Dunne
Kross and Gargano were great, Gargano really put on a show. This was Gargano’s match to lose and he sure did when KOR was put to sleep. Cole didn’t really need to do much and he didn’t outwork anyone which is exactly the role he needed to play. Dunne had some big moments but not quite enough of them for my taste. I did think Pete Dunne was going to take home the gold at one point though. Kross really showed discipline and growth in this match, coming across as a badass star.
Honorable mentions
Todd Pettengill and Dexter Lumis play karate fighters.
Ciampa and Thatcher challenge Grizzled Young Veterans.
Final take
As solid a PPV as anyone could ask for. No title changes but some great work from all Champs, really good choices in the titles here right now. Kross finally looks like he is a good worker, he worked safe and clean. Gonzalez looks vulnerable and poised for a baby face turn real soon. MSK need to do something endearing to the fans but their in ring stories are among the best in the business. Bronson Reed is the most important piece, if he can get over at a higher level then NXT is in good shape.
