NXT Championship 2-out-of-3 Falls Match with Special Stipulations Adam Cole (c) vs. Johnny Gargano
5 star match just as Frankie predicted and will surely be match of the weekend. An hour of brutality. 20 minutes per match in a 2 out of 3 falls affair. A classic wrestling match which Gargano lost purposefully to soften up Cole for the next fall, a street match. After things were at 1 fall apiece, chaos ensued as a steel cage outfitted with weapons was lowered. Cole and Gargano looked on in horror, then began to tear each other apart with a number of Canadian destroyers. Gargano clipped a section of barbwire, taking things even further. As Cole climbed the cage to escape Gargano followed and the two men fell through a table that had been set up previously. In a brutalfly executed match, Adam Cole managed to roll over onto Gargano for the cover and the win. A must see hour long special for any wrestling fan.
NXT Women’s Championship Match Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Mia Yim
Another classic Baszler match, Him definitely held her own but this one struggled to gather the steam it needed. The match was worked a bit too slowly perhaps. Him couldn’t quite get the crowd fully behind her the entire time. The match picked up at the end however, Mia Yim tapped. Baszler retains in a 2.75 match. It was a bit too slow because the comeback from Him took a little too long.
NXT North American Championship Triple Threat Match Velveteen Dream (c) vs. Pere Dunne vs. Roderick Strong
What an entrance from the Velveteen Dream, look that one up in the highlights of the show immediately! This match was nothing but nuts as Mauro Ranallo put it. A little schtick, teamwork, highspots, you name it. The Dream went coast to coast with a Purple Rain-maker. Double Stronghold from Strong and just an incredible move. The multi-man spots were great and had the crowd guessing as to what would come next. These men delivered a hard hitting – truly triple threat match and a 4.25 star performance.
Matt Riddle called out Killian Dain only to be be met by the beast of Belfast and have security get in the way on the stage in a melee. A random security guard was also taken out by Killian Dane when Dain and Riddle went tumbling off of the stage.
Grudge Match Candice Lerae vs. Io Shirai
Io is still a big fan favorite and showed us why in the early goings of this match with a vertical suplex onto the commentary table. There was little to no support for Candice Lerae at the beginning of the contest, she was booed by several “animated” fans but they also broke out into this is awesome chants so they were clearly confused. Some nice spots for both women, a good way to show the grit both Candice and Johny have. After kicking out of a moonsault, Io Shirai knew she had to finish Lerae and she did via submission. A solid 3 star match .
NXT Tag Team Championship Match The Street Profits (c) vs. Undisputed Era
The Street Profits retain in an excellent match to start the show. Undisputed Era gave Ford and Dawkins everything they could handle. Fish and O’Reilly were sharp but the Street Profits displayed some impressive offense as well in a 3.5 star match.
