Shotzi & Ember Moon vs Kai & Gonzalez
Dangerous bumps, that’s not storytelling. Shotzi Blackheart has so much personality that it’s mistaken for in-ring ability. She’s just taking the biggest bumps she can, that’s not wrestling, just wrestle. With that said with an opponent like Gonzalez big bumps make more sense but you just can’t spam them like it’s a video game. Ember Moon was sorta lost in the shuffle while Gonzalez showed why she is the next big star coming out of that division. Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez finally accomplish something and take home the Women’s Dusty Cup. They’ve been together a while and haven’t done much as a team but now they are the 1st Dusty Cup champs of the NXT women’s division.
Kushida vs Johnny Gargano[c]
NXT at its finest. Strong chain wrestling with submission transitions and reversals that would make your head spin. Kushida came close, too close if you ask me. Keeping that title on Gargano is a bad move, makes Kushida look like a loser. Gargano is one of the most decorated athletes in NXT, he doesn’t need a title right now.
MSK vs GYV
Hesitation on a lot of spots but it’s acceptable for such high level competition. I thought the Vets had em a few different times. MSK are gonna be stars, I’m extremely impressed by everything they bring to their matches. Let’s hope that they get as much television time as they can to gain momentum to continue their monster push.
Io Shirai[c] vs Toni Storm vs Mercedes Martinez
Can’t go wrong with the amount of work these ladies put into their matches. Maximum effort with wrestlers that can work, that’s what title matches should be filled to the brim with. Io retains. Great match, she needs to got to SmackDown or RAW to show them greatness.
Balor[c] vs Dunne
I thought Dunne was walking away with the title a couple of times but Balor was able to survive. There was a post match beatdown though. I was a little annoyed that they did this on a PPV but then Undisputed Era came out. Just when we thought Balor was an official member, he is taken out by Adam Cole and so is Kyle o’Reilly. The system was certainly shocked right along with the NXT Universe.
Honorable mentions
Eli Drake is on NXT!
Cameron Grimes music video.
Final take
Felt like the fans were really into this show, had a different feel. NXT has everything in place to get back on track. Viewers should be up for the next episode, a monumental shift has just taken place in the company’s landscape, we will be watching.
