Sasha Banks & Bayley were a pleasant surprise to start the show. They were just there to get themselves over and just be annoying heels. Not to be outdone, the IIconics want some action too and things break down into a tag team match. The IIconics and Bayley are so noisy during their matches, don’t know if that’s good or bad yet.
So Sasha & Bayley, IIconics and Charlotte and Asuka have a match because none of them can get along. A throw away match but there were some things that came out of it.
Monday Night maniac
Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio exchange words while Aleister Black takes advantage of Seth’s vulnerability, attacking him before his tag match with Humberto Carrillo. Murphy is pinned by Black but Seth distracts him by mocking Rey Mysterio. Seth is on a warpath, anyone in his way is being dealt with accordingly. I’m glad Aleister Black is kept strong but Seth’s disciples need wins to remain credible threats.
The games continue
In their best segment yet, the Street Profits and Viking Raiders go head to head in 10 games straight but it all ends in a tie. The Viking Raiders have proven that they are far more valuable than just being brutes in the ring. It seems as if they have replaced the Revival, the comedy aspect of their characters isn’t so bad so I’m okay with it.
Angel Garza vs Andrade vs Kevin Owens
Apollo Crews is getting a proper push; new champion, new music. Much needed and appreciated especially. Andrade pins his own stable mate to go to Backlash and get another title shot. Andrade definitely needs a rematch, putting over Apollo strong will kick his reign off right.
Lounging
Lashley was supposed to be in the VIP Lounge but WWE Champion Drew McIntyre highjacked the VIP Lounge. Bobby Lashley finally shows up to get the drop on McIntyre but the Viking Raiders got Drew’s back as we saw in an earlier backstage segment. Luckily, the Street Profits had the back of the Raiders so that we could get Viking Raiders vs MVP & Bobby Lashley with Street Profits bringing tons of energy to the match. Lashley takes out both Viking Raiders, staring down the champ in the process. The post match beatdown by Lashley was cut short by a Claymore.
Asuka [c] vs Charlotte
A match that the internet will praise and use to defend the push of Charlotte. Also the match that people will use to complain about Charlotte’s push. Nia Jax was a distraction in a NON TITLE MATCH, I am okay with this. Nia climbed up on the apron, Asuka had to physically stop her from interfering with the match, then Flair went over. Flair going over makes sense but Flair wins too many matches clean, this was a dirty win so it feels more in line with a Flair.
Honorable mentions
MVP wears a shirt in remembrance of Shad
Christian gives Edge a dose of reality. Orton invites himself to the Peep Show via backstage video promo.
Final take
Drew McIntyre is built the way a champion should be. He’s the top guy on the show without a doubt and he has the support of some heavy hitters, guys in the back who stand up for something. Raw is only going to get better, they aren’t even firing on all cylinders yet.
