I choose you

Randy Orton had words for the WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and he let him know that he was the next man the Viper would strike. I personally think that it may be a little too soon for this feud but it makes sense to just go ahead and book the match for Summer Slam.

Jax’d up

What Orton said really spoke to Nia Jax so she came out looking for a fight. Only problem is so did Shayna Baszler. Later they had a brief match that led to a count out foreshadowing something that may turn into a run as a tag team.

Viking Raiders vs Cedrick Alexander & Ricochet vs Garza & Andrade

Winner takes on The Street Profits for the Raw tag team titles at Summer Slam. When this is the weakest match on the show then you must have a helluva show on your hands. Predictable spots and action with predictable winners. Garza and Andrade will likely dethrone the Profits but it’ll probably be the match too late.

Sacrifices

Dominick Mysterio attacks Seth after Seth tried to let bygones be bygones. Then Seth and Murphy play stomp the Dominick, throwing him all around the ring into the hockey glass. Aleister Black came out to even the odds but the Black Hand of RAW gained the upper hand, instructing Murphy to injure the eye of Aleister Black the same way Mysterio was “sacrificed”. Reluctantly, Murphy carried out the dastardly deed before being scared by Dominick Mysterio who had found a kendo stick to help fend off Seth and his disciple.

Mustafa Ali vs Bobby Lashley

The VIP Lounge had the returning Mustafa Ali on as a guest and MVP made him an offer to join him. Of course Ali turned it down and warned him of his foolish decision. During the match, Ali had visible bruises but the real chaos began when Tozawa emerged from the ring to try and pin Shelton Benjamin who was present during the VIP Lounge. Benjamin and Lashley took out the ninjas Tozawa brought with him while the match continued. Ali took an L but all is not loss, Lashley is a top guy on the brand and a fearsome competitor, no shame in losing to him.

Murphy vs Humberto

Never seen a bad match out of either of of the two and tonight was another good outing. More of the same stuff we’ve been getting but still another chapter told in Murphy’s story.

Sasha [c] vs Asuka [c]

Of course the match was gonna be good but as sure as we knew the match was gonna be good, we knew the ending would be booked like absolute shit. At first glance this is all bad but when you think about everything that happened you start to see how the booking actually protected everyone and tells a nuanced story. Sasha and Bayley are now double champs which presents a multitude of stories that can be told about the pair and their contenders.

Dolph Ziggler vs Drew McIntyre [c]

An eye for an eye. Drew wanted the same opportunities to beat the hell out of Dolph that Dolph had at Extreme Rules and the stipulation just led to another victory with Drew McIntyre putting Dolph Ziggler through a table with a Claymore. The match was great, very fast paced, hard hitting action. As always the three most destructive letters wrestling struck at just the right time; right after the match when Drew let his guard down.

Honorable mentions

  1. Ruby Riott and Bianca were seen talking to Mark Henry backstage.

Final take

This episode has been brutal but in a great way. So many great spots that only pro wrestling can pull off.
