The ghost of Christmas past took the form of Heath Slater. When Dolph Ziggler tried to get into the head of his Extreme Rules opponent, he brought out Drew’s old buddy and tag team partner, Heath Slater. Heath was released earlier this year, a victim of the pandemic layoffs. Heath laid it on thick to get a match with Drew but it was over as quickly as it started. McIntyre did go back to save his friend when Dolph assaulted him, they hugged it out and shared a moment.
Kairi Sane vs Sasha Banks [c]
The annoying heel team, that suits Sasha and Bayley well right now. They are doing such a great job it’s hard to think that they will break up at some point this year. Kairi really got in some great offense against Sasha, dominating most of the match. Bayley had enough and jumped in before Sane could make Sasha tap.
The 2 on 1 advantage was too much for Asuka until she got the upper hand and held the two up outside of the ring for an Insane Elbow from Kairi.
Rey Mysterio & Kevin Owens vs Rollins & Murphy
Seth and Murphy attacked black in the back and put a Rey Mysterio mask on him. KO has Seth Rollins on his show to expose him for the piece of crap that he is and steps in for Aleister Black to wrestle Murphy and Rollins. Aleister Black comes out to change the times
Los Technicos win so they get to pick the stipulation; an eye for an eye match.
Aaaand Neeeeew
MVP reveals a new United States Championship title and it is the quite arguably the best looking title in the company.
Ricochet and Cedrick Alexander stick up for their friend Apollo, challenging MVP and Lashley to an impromptu match. The match was good, MVP was limited to what he can do but that actually worked out very well. Cedrick Alexander barely escapes Lashley and his Full Nelson.
MVP tries to recruit Cedrick backstage after their match. He let’s Alexander know that he’s good and deserves more. MVP has a classic line, you gotta watch it; the catering business was a marvelous line. This is an excellent feud that needs to keep going.
6man tag alert
Big Show & Viking Raiders vs Garza, Andrade & Orton
Haven’t seen a 6 man tag that didn’t make sense in a while. The viper strikes and defeats the Viking Raiders after choking Angel Garza, telling him to get his shit together. Andrade and Garza are going to break up. The run-in with Orton they had backstage before their match didn’t help things either. Zelina has a failed faction on her hands and it’s severely damaging her character as well as those she manages. It’s not too late but Garza and Andrade need to earn their title shots very soon.
Quiet Riott
Another backstage segment and another match later we see Ruby being handed yet another loss. This time Billie Kaye was the one who bested Riott. We know that Ruby and Liv are going to be paired together after their recent losses, we just don’t know when exactly. The wins are great for the IIconics bit Ruby looks weaker every single week. Whatever they are going to do may not be enough.
Asuka [c] vs Bayley [c]
Nikki Cross joins commentary before the match starts and we are in for a treat. Asuka and Bayley had a PPV match on the main event of Raw. They didn’t pull any punches; literally. Asuka hot the win with an assist from Nikki Cross who startled Bayley from the crowd. Asuka beat the SmackDown women’s champ, holding a significant victory over one half of the Women’s Tag team champs which may help propel the Kabuki Warriors to victory in their title match next week.
Honorable mentions
Even Randy Orton is in on the ninja act, I love it. I have no idea why he covered for truth but it was cool. First Drew had some fun with Truth, now Orton.
Kairi Sane has some great recorder skills.
Final take
Home run! If you are not watching Raw, take the stick out of your ass and get with the program. This is good wrestling, solid booking and good storytelling.
