Triple threat tag team
Andrade & Garza vs Seth Rollins & Murphy vs Humberto Carillo & Dominik Mysterio
Not a bad showing for Dominik but Andrade and Garza won after Seth Rollins led Buddy Murphy high and dry. We have to see this match one more time, we’ve been seeing it since before Wrestlemania but hopefully Andrade and Garza actually win this time.
The KO Show
Shane McMahon is Kevin’s guest on this segment. Owens had an ulterior motive, that was to get Dabba Kato out there so that Owen’s could challenge him and bring him face to face with his RAW Underground opponent Braun Strowman.
Zelina vs Mickie James
Mickie had a decent promo before the match, too bad I didn’t believe any of it. We all knew Mickie James was losing, especially after last week. Zelina looked ok, Mickie has clearly lost a half step though. The match as a whole was a little sloppy. Commentary was trying too hard to get Vega over. With all that said, Vega winning clean over Mickie was a mistake. Vega is largely unproven and that’s her only victory on RAW if I’m not mistaken, she doesn’t have many victories (if any) in NXT either.
Drew [c] vs Keith
Orton breaks it up with a chair shot to the back of McIntyre. I actually thought Keith Lee was going to win with some interference. Orton cuts a great promo, using the ambulance as a prop and his history as a prediction that he will become a 14 time champion.
Apollo vs Cedrick Alexander
Promo by Alexander before the match was good, glad to see him being used well. The Hurt business has injected new life into his character. The match itself was pretty good, liked seeing Alexander work as a heel, it suits him well. Lawler calling out Ricochet at ringside is exactly what’s wrong with Ricochet, he lacks personality when he’s just standing in the background.
Old tricks
Seth questioned the actions of Rey’s daughter but brilliantly disguised it as paternity concerns regarding the Mysterio children. Questioning paternity but ultimately making it about Murphy, a much appreciated twist from the story they appeared to be telling at the start of the segment.
Natalya & Lana vs Jax [c] & Baszler [c]
Liv and Ruby on commentary added nothing at all, the pair have become as bland as Ricochet. Lana looks far more credible while teaming with Natalya but Natalya didn’t even get into the match. Nia and Shayna took out Lana in front of Liv and Ruby again to send a strong message to them. I think they are losing the titles though, I can see Liv and Ruby touring the brands, cutting good promos in good segments backstage.
Asuka [c] vs Peyton Royce
As expected, Zelina Vega ended the match in a disqualification when she attacked Asuka. They are hot shotting too many things on the show these days and one of them is the entire women’s division.
RAW Underground
Arturo vs Dolph
Hell of a fight, Dolph is king of the Underground right now. He has to have the most wins and I’d like to see some sort of title or something to show who the man is.
Erik vs Riddick Moss
Moss knocks out Erik pretty quickly. I was hoping Erik would have been used a little better but hey shit happens.
Braun Strowman vs Dabba Kato
The fight was pretty good, didn’t see Kato getting his ass knocked out. The fight probably should have just kept going and RAW Underground should have ended like that. There should not have been a winner of this match.
Briana Brandy was a swing and a miss I think, Shane had to rescue her immediately from screwing up on live TV.
Retribution vs The Hurt Business
Saved the best for last.
Retribution finally reveal themselves…kinda and its exactly who we thought it was and they look very intimidating. Except no one knows who the third guy is. Didn’t know you could call people whores on RAW but Retribution sure did.
The Hurt Business met the new faction head on and got their ass whooped as they were gravely outnumbered, Bobby Lashley was even taken out.
The Hurt business beat up some Retribution jobbers in the back leading to their confrontation in the main event in a 6man tag. Everything was fine until the names of Retribution were announced in commentary, T-Bar, Slapjack and Mace. Twitter is STILL on fire from the shit storm these names produced. Retribution was disqualified because they never gave a shit anyway because all 20 of them appeared out of nowhere. Just when all hope was lost, Drew McIntyre led the locker room to the ring to take on the Mad Max wannabes. When in the ThunderDome you gotta have Mad Max people.
Honorable mentions
Bianca Belair vignette: strong EST
R Truth and Tozawa segment.
Final take
Too much going on the show. There should have been few major stories with a bunch of different segments. It’s a more episodic show and I like that but there are some random things sprink6in that are just confusing. Some good parts and some parts that didn’t need to be there.
