Becky/Baszler
I like the way they let Shayna and her actions speak for themselves as well as letting her add a little sprinkle of confidence on top with an exclusive backstage interview after her big main event win at Elimination Chamber. Becky is still controlling the tempo of things, let’s see what happens when Becky is getting the short end of the stick once again.
Angel Garza vs Rey Mysterio
Mysterio wins a really cool match that had the people on their feet. I always like when Rey is in the ring and Angel Garza is going to be one of the best things going in the company of he keeps doing what he’s doing.
Erick Rowan vs Drew McIntyre
Now that’s how you put a gimmick out to pasture! So Erick Rowan had his dreams, and spider, smash by Drew McIntyre who is now loved and credited with the distribution of a stupid gimmick that went nowhere. McIntyre running through Rowan was a good look, Rowan is credible enough to be a good time up match for anyone.
Queen down
Charlotte looked her best to deliver one of her best promos although she did have things flipped around. Rhea Ripley came out, to pyro, letting Charlotte have a sucker punch before walking out of the ring, back up the ramp with a big smile on her face. Another segment that worked well. Both had a smirk on their faces, knowing that a war is coming and we all get to enjoy it on the biggest stage of them all.
Kabuki Warriors [c] vs Natalya & Liv Morgan
Japanese heels are super annoying which is exactly what you want from your heels. Liv and Natalya looked good in their match, I might want to see them be a team going forward. Ruby Riott watches from ringside but her presence has done nothing for me since her return. Kabuki Warriors win and celebrate in style.
AJ gets real
AJ styles calls out the Undertaker and gets real, generating some great heat for dropping the Taker’s government name as well. A big deal because that is rarely done. Michelle McCool was drug into this, drawing the ire of Styles, being accused of being a golddigger. I liked what AJ did here, it worked; it worked extremely well. Styles is cheered quite often and well respected, this was the only way to get legitimate heat from any crowd. Fans are now looking forward to the fight and also a response from the Undertaker.
Riddick Moss [c] vs Cedrick Alexander
I can hear the black community in an uproar right now. Moss has a title, it’s not respected but he is making people put some respect on his name. Cedrick Alexander and Ricochet are victims of Moss’s push but neither of those two can talk so maybe they are victims of their own shortcomings.
On this day
Edge returns and Spears MVP only to be attacked by Orton and deliver an RKO from out of nowhere to Orton. Orton got out of Dodge but MVP was RKOd onto a chair and conchairto’d. Edge sold his intensity well. I love the segments from MVP, his transitioning from talent to manager is going very well, he’s a seasoned veteran who will become one of the best backstage agents in the business.
Picked the wrong fight
Seth Rollins asks Aleister Black to be his disciple, declining leads to a match. The match that we got was pretty good for as long as it lasted. It’s a good thing that the heels gang up on Aleister Black, that means he is hard to take out one on one. Faces helping faces is what makes good stable rosters and good stories. The newly crowned Street Profits and the Viking Raiders came to the aid of Black but lost the match after shenanigans. KO was Curb Stomped but not before serving up a Stunner to Buddy Murphy who sells it’s just as good as Seth Rollins does.
Honorable mentions
Rollins and his crew beatdown KO.
McIntyre vs Lesnar video package.
Ricochet is now on Mainevent.
Lashley beats Ryder, crowd wants Lana.
Final take
Great episode of what is one of the best shows on television. The fans that left didn’t trust the process, they need to come back and be believers. Wrestlemania hype is building and stories are unfolding nicely week after week.
