Asuka vs Liv Morgan
I thought there was going to be a big upset and a monster push coming but I may have been wrong. Asuka beats Morgan in a good showing from Liv. Didn’t seem like the match had a ton of purpose other than to show Liv’s progress, I’d prefer Liv have a win streak then be derailed by a wrestler like Asuka.
Tag title rematch
If there was going to be a rematch then this match could have just waited until Raw instead of being on a bloated Wrestlemania show. Not to mention this is super lazy because it’s all pretaped, so you pretaped the same match twice? Given the circumstances I’ll leave it at that. Bianca Belair is now on Raw which is great in so many ways, a husband and wife cbo is always something good to have on a show. More importantly the title picture is wide open. SmackDown is definitely the show that needs her more but the EST of WWE is a star and has Hollywood brand written all over her.
Bianca Belair vs Zelina Vega
Zelina was finally able to show what she can do against a talented athlete so Belair having trouble with Zelina wasn’t a bad look at all. The Street Profits at ringside was a treat, “who’s bad?” Gotta love these guys. I expected Bianca Belair to win clean and squash Zelina but a disqualification changed the landscape…
Family affair
So this match is ever evolving and since ain’t nobody got nothing else to do, this match was a great idea, I now see why it was saved for Raw. This is how you build a rivalry in a very short time. Theory and Gaza are as credible as anyone on the roster, no surprise they would get to challenge for the Raw tag team titles. Bianca Belair records her first win on Raw by pinning Vega. Keep the fun going, can’t wait to see the one on one matches this rivalry will produce.
Ricochet & Cedrick Alexander vs Lorcan & Burch
Looks like Raw gets their version of London and Kendrick. Lorcan and Burch deserve better, they have put on some of the most entertaining matches in NXT with some great tag teams. They have been jobbers for the most part but they are so talented, this is why Cedrick Alexander and Ricochet should have a much tougher time defeating them, maybe even losing a couple of times before finally beating Lorcan and Burch. Both teams are future tag champs, just don’t know when WWE will pull the trigger.
Nia Jax returns
Looking good and looking to reassert herself as a dominant competitor. Deonna Purrazo didn’t stand a chance. I much prefer Purrazo than Jax but I understand how it goes. Mia has been out a while but I think having her feud with Becky after Becky loses to Shayna at SummerSlam would be the best move to help both characters move on and possibly have a Wrestlemania match.
Year of the Drew
I see what Vince saw in Drew when he first hired him; Drew has it all. Drew finds himself in a match with the Big Show just 30 minutes after defeating Brock Lesnar for the same Championship he just changed the plates on. Big Show damn near stole the WWE Championship after bullying his way to a title shot but McIntyre proved his grit and retained.
Honorable mentions
The exclusive post match interview after Becky’s win was exactly how you build up your opponents, Shayna wasn’t buried, it was quite the opposite.
Post Mania match interview with Bobby Lashley was short and to the point, he just straight throws Lana under the bus!
Aleister Black beats new comer to Raw…back to Raw, Apollo Crews. Apollo did very well, I see Crews turning heel very soon. That was a damn good showing from Apollo.
Seth Rollins gets a squash, a rare occasion, he hasn’t had one of those in a long time. Owens did something to Seth when he handed him his first Wrestlemania loss.
Humberto makes his return to action.
Charlotte gave her best promo in quite some time.
Final take
I am shocked yet again, WWE put on a post Wrestlemania show that felt important. The exclusive post mania content was not just filler but a great way to add new content without having to have wrestlers on site. This show is why you shouldn’t doubt this company; when the going gets tough, the tough get going.
