Becky confronts Asuka

An emotional Lynch comes out with the MITB briefcase and let’s Asuka know why she couldn’t open the briefcase, it’s because the Raw Women’s Championship was inside. Becky explained to Asuka that she was relinquishing the title and that she was the champ now. After a brief celebration, Becky informs Asuka that she can’t be champ because she is becoming a mommy. Asuka performed her own Becky chants and everyone in the back, including Vince McMahon, congratulates Becky.

Bobby Lashley vs Humberto Carillo

It’s been a long time, a very long time but someone has tapped out to a full Nelson. The match was short and sweet with an unexpected ending. I like where they are going with Bobby Lashley, his character has developed quite a bit. Humberto still has his whole career ahead of him so the losses he has accumulated won’t really amount to much.

Angel Garza vs Tozawa

Austin Theory ain’t having Garza’s shit before and after the match and the two damn near come to blows. Garza picks up the victory but Drew McIntyre wants in on the action and challenges Andrade to an impromptu match. Drew beats Andrade then drops a hot promo and talks about the brand to brand invitation and King Corbin being opponent next week. The promo actually got me very excited to see the match between the two.

An IIconic moment of Bliss

The IIconics return to Raw and crash a Moment of Bliss, challenging the Women’s Tag Team Champions to a match. Nikki Cross made the IIconics look as good as they can look, that’s not saying much. I want the IIconics to get the belts but I don’t know if they should get them. I kinda like Carmella and Dana Brooke getting a run with the titles.

Cedrick Alexander & Ricochet and R Truth vs Thorne & Vink and MVP

Truth pins MVP but Lashley is now team MVP and puts Truth in a full Nelson. R Truth was made an example out of and Bobby Lashley looks like he is going to become an unstoppable force under the management of MVP. MVP is building an old school stable and I like it, Ruby Riott will probably be added to have a badass woman to complete the stable and raise havok on Raw. This means Vink & Thorne may be tag team champions somewhere down the line to add some credibility to the stable but what I would do is put the United States title on MVP in a multiman match.

Rey Mysterio & Aleister Black vs Seth Rollins & Murphy

Rey talks about dying and watching Aleister Black die, makes me believe he’s about to die again.

Rey told Murphy “it’s only you, do something”, when Murphy kept looking over at Seth to help him during the match. We got a lot out of the little bit Black and Murphy gave us. Rey Mysterio attacks Seth, Seth then tried to blind Rey after the match was stopped via DQ. Seth claims to not know what happened with him but Murphy and black will always have beef so they fight anyway.

Orton is still on the Edge

Randy Orton congratulates Edge on being the better man but not the better wrestler. Randy Orton said wrestler, guess the narrative of Vince’s forbidden words took a major hit. So we are gonna get a good ole fashioned wrestling match at Backlash. I praise Charly all the time but she should have just conveniently forgotten that last line.

Honorable mentions

  1. They actually referred to Undertaker as Mark Calaway on TV.

  2. MVP talks to Lashley about Bobby’s future.

  3. Jinder Mahal speaks about a new path.

  4. Shayna is a true heel, talking shit about the unborn child of Becky.

  5. King Corbin is interviewed and asked why he killed two people.

  6. The Viking Raiders and the Street Profits play an entertaining game of basketball.

  7. Shayna Baszler become the bitch of Raw and takes out Natalya.

Final take

The episode was a little all over the place but it was pretty good. I enjoyed every segment and a lot of developments laid things out on the table not only for Backlash but for future rivalries and stories.
