A moment of Bliss

Randy Orton is the special guest on a very special show. Hard to take Alexa Bliss too seriously when her in ring ability doesn’t match her character output.

Symphony of destruction

A match like no other because no other match has so many guitars in it. 24/7 Championship shenanigans are perfect for a match with no disqualification. Jeff Hardy has had an amazing time since being back in WWE, matches like this are fun, adding to his long list of highlights while adding to the even longer list of life threatening moves he’s attempted.

Slapjack vs Ricochet

Retribution’s promo before the match

Interference leads to a win by Slapjack with one of the weakest finishing moves I’ve seen in a while. Dana Brooke slaps Ali leading to a match later in the night.

Miz TV

Miz couldn’t be any more cold than he is right now as a SOLO act. Morrison is so good with him that I don’t see the pair breaking up any time soon. The point is that Miz needs some major credibility and soon. Sheamus is the guest so that Miz & Morrison could try and manipulate Sheamus into turning on his partner Drew McIntyre. When that didn’t work, they settled for stomping Sheamus out.

Lana & Asuka [c] vs Shayna Baszler [c] & Nia Jax [c]

Does Lana know who she’s teaming with? Doesn’t matter, Lana is doing well and winning matches against Shayna Baszler, that’s all that is relevant. What if Lana and Asuka do the impossible and take the gold from Shayna and Nia? I for one would love it, I think it’s what the division needs and what will shake things up for the better.

Cedrick Alexander vs Xavier Woods [c]

Xavier Woods thanks his supporters for helping him become a host on the newly revived G4TV. Alexander attacks Woods before the bell, I like the mean streak he has now, it’s a much needed personality boost. Alexander wins with the Lumbar Check. Woods was rusty form being out of singles competition for over a year but not too shabby.

AJ Styles vs Keith Lee vs Matt Riddle

The star of this match was easily Matt Riddle. The veteran AJ Styles wins with a veteran move. Keith Lee is going to need something to do and some character development, I’m hoping they have him feud with Retribution soon, that way we get Lee vs Dijak again. It won’t be as good as it was in NXT but it’ll still be decent. AJ Styles won’t win the title but it’ll be a great match for Drew to build his own legacy on.

Dana Brooke vs Reckoning

This could be terrible or just good enough to earn more TV and trust from the bookers. Promo from Reckoning was alright. The match wasn’t what it could have been and Yim’s mask came off almost immediately. Dana Brooke wins?! I think its the wrong decision but I suppose they need to build Brooke up so that beating her means more.

Sheamus & Drew McIntyre [c] vs Miz & Morrison

Drew warns Roman he’s going to see him again in an interview before his match. AJ Styles on commentary adds another element of danger for Drew. The match didn’t have as much story as I thought it would but it served its purpose. Drew and Sheamus came out on top.

Honorable mentions

  1. That interviewer’s hair is terrible.

  2. The show was not well rehearsed, everyone flubbed lines and had jitters

  3. Lashley attacks Riddle backstage.

Final take

Raw was as solid, just as it has been all year. Not sold on Styles legitimately having a shot at winning the title however, it does seem like main event material. TLC is gonna be one hall of a card and I’m definitely sold on that.
