Raw Quick Takes 12/28/20

Drew thanks the fans, Sheamus interrupts his promo thinking it’s all good but McIntyre scolds him for what he did to Keith Lee. A really good segment, the banter was fresh. Lee vs Sheamus seems heated, like it may last a long time.

Keith Lee had words for Sheamus and got their match started right then and there.

Keith Lee vs Sheamus

I thought Sheamus might cheat to win but that wasn’t the case. He did Brogue kick Keith Lee before the match but Lee powered through and won. I fully expect Sheamus to interfere in the title match next week.

Miz & Gran Metalik

So I guess they are doing the redemption story with Miz because he lost to Gran Metalik clean. The Miz is gonna lose more matches I suppose before being built back up.

Dana vs Shayna

I’m glad they keep Shayna strong but a cheap loss to Dana would have elevated Dana, they’ve been trying to push Dana Brooke but this loss to Baszler sets her back. Baszler chokes out Brooke after a decent match but Dana just doesn’t have what it takes yet, she is a long way from that signature win that puts her in title contention.

AJ Styles vs Elias

AJ and Elias have a confrontation in the back and that leads to a pretty solid match between the two. Styles wins clean. Elias is having some great stuff with some legends. Put the Drifter in the ring with a veteran and good things will happen. Elias should get a run with the 24/7 title with Jaxson Ryker keeping his competition in check.

Ricochet vs Mustafa Ali

This story better be done or go somewhere, FAST. Ricochet needs to join this group so he can find his voice. There was no winner in this match, Ali won and was then made a fool of by Ricochet so we are back to square one.

Charlotte [c] vs Nia Jax

Shayna chokes Charlotte for the DQ, the only way this match should have ended. Gotta protect Nia, especially after she just lost to Lana. Charlotte also shouldn’t be beating top people again so soon, she already beat the tag champs her first match back. The match was okay, Nia sucks most of the time and Charlotte has a hard time elevating talent to her level but the match worked.

8 man tag alert

The Hurt Business wins with Bobby Lashley tapping out Jeff Hardy AGAIN! Not a smart move for Hardy to take the pin, I get it, Riddle will avenge Hardy’s losses but it still makes Hardy look a lot weaker than what he really is. Hardy just beat Elias in a hardcore match, he shouldn’t be tapping out tight after that.

Alexa’s playground

Orton was in the Funhouse but met Alexa out in the ring. She poured gasoline on herself and asked Orton to set her on fire. The show fades to black as Orton drops the lit match and I’m pretty sure he burned her alive; I love pro wrestling. Some will say it’s silly but what have we been watching for decades anyway?!

Final take

The last Raw of the year was good, it ended solid and began the year solid as well. I hope 2021 has more unbiased critics because the program is actually good and fun to watch.
