Its official
Drew McIntyre will face Lashley at Wrestlemania. Bobby Lashley makes the Championship look great. Miz tries to suck up to Bobby Lashley to get another title shot. Drew talks to Lashley about their past and their similar journeys. Lashley jumps Drew then Sheamus jumps Lashley on the ramp, lots of action in this opening segment.
McIntyre vs Miz
John Morrison saves Miz and is banned from ringside. McIntyre brutalizes Miz and wins with the Hurt Lock. A message has been sent to Lashley and I’m not so sure Lashley will retain.
Shane vs Braun
This segment was funny but for the wrong reasons, Shane is just winging it and he’s terrible for whatever reason. All of this led to a match that never happened; Shane played Braun for a fool. Vince has a sloshing fetish because every once in in a while we get some sort of gravy/food/gel or something thrown all over someone. This time it was Nickelodeon slime. Let’s be real though, Shane got the best of Braun Strowman then beat his ass.
Lana & Naomi vs Dana & Mandy
R Truth should have worn the new Stone Cold belt from WWE shop during his backstage segment and maybe the ladies should have said nothing because it was just too scripted. It also didn’t have anything to do with the match but it should’ve.
The match was good, that hard work really showed in this match. I’ve been waiting for these four to show us what they can do and put together a cohesive match. I want to see them have a trilogy or something. Continuing this feud would tell the story of all four of them so that would be a good move. I don’t like that Asuka interrupted the finish, it really undermined the work that was done in the ring. Pretty sure I heard the ref count 3 twice, good finish though.
The Hurt Business[c] vs New Day
The more I think New Day need to change and be more serious, the more they impress me by doing what they been doing. The Mortal Kombat references in their moveset were outstanding. This match was amazing from start to finish and New Day are now 11 time champs! The Hurt Business can get the titles back at some point, maybe after Wrestlemania.
AJ Styles cuts the celebration short, with a challenge. Haven’t seen this in a while, a challenge by a heel right after a title changes hands. Styles and Omos want the tag titles so challenging New Day at Wrestlemania was a good way to debut Omos in the ring and give both Styles and New Day a match for Mania.
Ryker vs Priest
Priest makes short work of Ryker. The match was just a reason for Bad Bunny to be out there and get destroyed when the Miz hit him with a guitar. Bad Bunny throws a better punch than pretty much 90% of the business.
Asuka[c] vs Shayna[c]
Asuka wins after shenanigans. At least Asuka looked like a badass again. For the first time in a long time Asuka showed some fire. Asuka was brutal, something she’s been missing; the type of Edge a champion has.
Mustafa Ali vs Riddle[c]
New Day and Riddle are good together, they need more segments scattered throughout the show. I love Ali’s promos but he never wins anything so what’s the point. I really wanna see Ali start to win and dominate some people in matches, he needs to be built strong.
Lashley[c] vs SheamusÂ
Sheamus gave Bobby Lashley all he could handle. Lashley looked powerful but he could not dominate Sheamus the way he does everyone else. Sheamus was even protected from tapping out to the Hurt Lock. A spear took out the Celtic Warrior as he went for a Brogue Kick. Drew, who was ringside the entire time, saved Sheamus from the Hurt Lock amd got a little revenge on Bobby with a Claymore.
Honorable mentions
Bad Bunny is good for business and he respects it.
Alexa challenges Orton.
Final take
This is how you book Raw. Really solid episode, got me interested for next week, furthered storylines and built a better road to Wrestlemania.
