Lashley [c] vs Sheamus
Sheamus has been doing some excellent in ring work for quite some time now, I love the effort and the brutality he brings to the show. Lashley wanting to prove himself against Sheamus again lends so much credibility to the dominant wrestler that Bobby is. Really good to see a match like this but McIntyre making the save makes me think there will be a turn back to babyface for Sheamus.
Peyton vs Asuka[c]
Good match, Royce is always a little hesitant but pretty serviceable in the ring. Royce needs to be far more serious, winning a bunch of matches before taking on Charlotte, proving herself to be a worthy challenger. The match was over and Royce looked okay. Out comes a new challenger. Rhea Ripley takes advantage of Charlotte’s absence, challenging Asuka for the title at Wrestlemania.
Miz TV
The Miz challenges Bad Bunny at Wrestlemania while reminding us of his credentials as a WWE Superstar.
Hardy vs Miz
The Miz wins and I suppose they needed someone credible for him to defeat but I wish it were Mojo Rawley or someone instead of a big name like Jeff Hardy. After the win, Bad Bunny smashes a guitar over Miz’s back, accepting his challenge for a match at Wrestlemania.
AJ Styles vs Kofi[c]
Two grand slam champs that have won it all will never disappoint you in a match together. I understand why the match took place but it was just unnecessary to me. Styles have been protected for a while and so has Baron Corbin, they need to be careful how they use them.
Drew vs the Hurt Business
Drew got to pick his own stipulation, a good reason for Adam Pearce to make the match and not feel bad about it. We all know how that is going to end. Lashley puts a bounty on McIntyre’s head before Wrestlemania.
Dana & Mandy vs Nia[c] & Shayna[c]
Idk what the point really was, why hang another L on a team you were just trying to build up a couple months ago? Someone needs to challenge for the women’s tag team titles at some point but they haven’t built any teams up and stayed with them. Naomi is bad on the mic, she has a weird voice. She doesn’t say things that make too much sense, kind of the criticism people used to say about Booker T on commentary but its actually true when it comes to Naomi.
Braun vs Elias
Elias and Shane sing a duet and do some decent comedy. This would make a little more sense in front of fans but it’s good for killing a little time. I actually liked the sound effects when Braun ran around the ring, it’s not like everyone can have them and this IS still a production so its plausible.
Elias loses twice, making him a jobber unnecessarily, Mojo Rawley could have returned to take a pinfall.
Summoning the Fiend
Randy says bullshit backstage and Alexa just straight up summons the Fiend from the bottom of the ring. I am indifferent about the Fiend’s return because I knew I would be underwhelmed.
Honorable mentions
Sheamus and Riddle may have a feud
Final take
Solid show, nothing too compelling on the show but still very solid. A double for sure, not every show can be a home run like SmackDown.
