Raw Quick Takes 5/31/21

Miz returns

The A-lister is back, no mention of his injury from what I can remember. Charlotte was his guest but here comes the parade; Rhea Ripley crashed the party, then here comes Nikki Cross who challenges Charlotte. The challenge was that Charlotte couldn’t beat her in 1 minute. Nikki also challenges the winner of the match between Charlotte and Rhea at Hell in a Cell. The match did what it was supposed to do but they made Cross look weak and Charlotte look stupid.

Orton vs Woods

Riddle and Priest talk in the back when Orron shows up. Randy was impressed so he invited Riddle with him to watch his match. What’s up with Randy’s mustache? The White and Green Ranger outfits are truly outstanding from the New Day. Whenever they get old they freshen up their act, gotta give it up to the New Day for that. Another banger, Xavier Woods is doing some great work since returning from injury, he has really found his stride and he isn’t in his prime yet. Orton hits Bro Derek for the win as a nod to Riddle.

Shayna vs Reggie

Reggie’s gear is weird but unique. The match was good, as expected. An explosion distraction made Shayna lose, Shayna keeps losing and it has to be leading to something. Later, Shayna chokes out Reginald on Alexa’s Playground then calls out Alexa.

Mace & TBar vs Lucha House Party

They need to change their music, that is the music of losers. These guys have homoerotic undertones to their act and its giving steong He-Man vibes. Mace and TBar win which is good for their push but they are just not doing it for me.

Cedrick and Shelton should have had more tag feuds and jobbed more before splitting up. A feud with Mace and TBar would have done a lot for all 4 of them.

Scumbaggery

The United States Champion, Sheamus calls out scumbaggery. He hasn’t defended his title yet but something tells me he’s going to at the PPV against 2 men at the same time. Ricochet beats Sheamus with a distraction from Humberto and Humberto also picks up a win. Sheamus gets an L against both Ricochet and Humberto back to back. A broken nose for Sheamus means that he is even more of a badass than we thought.

Ravishing Glow vs Mandy & Dana

New music, new gear but all bad. How do you get new gear and music and they are both terrible? They don’t know what to do with these two and these two don’t know what to do with themselves. They just go with the flow and do whatever someone writes. This is the lack of creativity within the talent that prevents them from getting over. Dana and Mandy need a wrestling consultant or something.

This match was just bad, Naomi needs so much work. Naomi has to work with someone and reign in her style, any cruiserweight would be able to show her how to hone whatever skills she has.

Natalya and Tamina were on commentary and added next to nothing. Mandy and Dana win a sloppy and slow match.

Ryker & Elias vs Styles[c] & Omos[c]

Elias leaves Ryker to the wolves. Elias spins the reason why he left, he is such a good talker that I believe him. Looks like they are going to give Ryker a babyface push and that is going to fall flat on its face because people hate him.

Alexa’s Playground

Reginald joins Alexa on her playground

Shayna and Alexa would be great. Shayna was really rough on the mic when she first got to NXT now she is one of the best personalities in the business. A feud with Alexa is going to put her back in the position of a badass, where she belongs.

Drew vs Kofi

Hell of a match, Drew wins by catching Kofi off the top rope with a Claymore. Bobby Lashley had been chilling in the back with a gaggle of women but came out once the bell rang to confront his opponent at Hell in a Cell.

Honorable mentions

1. Cardi B is coming to Summerslam.

2. Jimmy Smith is a natural.

3. More commercials for NXT.

4. New Eva Marie vignette.

5. Ali gives Mansoor advice. That is the midcard feud we need right now.

Final take

It’s been a while since Raw had a really good episode so this came as a surprise. However, not a big surprise because episodes have been trending up for a little bit.
