Broooo

Matt Riddle’s promo is exactly the sort of breakdown in structure that SmackDown and the rest of “main roster” WWE needs. Michael Cole did a good job of letting Riddle do his thing. However, Baron Corbin had enough of the new guy, so did John Morrison who was Riddle’s opponent in the first match of the night.

Riddle vs Morrison

Corbin, Cole and Graves had plenty of fun on commentary. Morrison really got to let loose in terms of athleticism. You absolutely have to watch this match. Riddle got a sneaky pin but the victory is short lived when AJ attacks from behind.

Styles [c] vs Gulak

Daniel Bryan was live via zoom which added a very nice touch to commentary, something I’m hoping they integrate more into the show. Gulak took AJ to his limits, that pissed AJ Styles off so he had to punish him for that. A Styles Clash was enough but Styles finished it with a Phenomenal Forearm to make a statement.

Golden role models

A tribute to Sasha and Bayley is actually something that they should get because everything they said was true. They are doing so well at their jobs they actually deserve a tribute. Bayley is being so goofy and having so much fun that you just know she’s just being herself with a little bit of spice.

Alexa and Nikki interrupt so that Bayley vs Bliss can happen. Bayley made Bliss look like a million bucks as always. Nikki gives Bayley a DQ victory by attacking Bayley.

Shinsuke vs Kofi [c]

The match we don’t deserve but we got anyway. This was a lot like what we got with Riddle and Morrison, super athletic. The tag title matches between them are going to be great. Cesaro is no stranger to the scene and the Bar was when he got familiar with the New Day. I want another singles match after those matches though.

I propose a toast

Jeff Hardy is certainly a trooper for having his business be a main story on a show like this, I commend him on his openness. The joke has gone on long enough though. At the very least, Jeff Hardy got the last laugh. It’s not a bad dues but it’s kind of too one-note at times.

Honorable mentions

  1. Miz, Morrison and Corbin are now a thing and conspiring against Riddle.

Final take

I enjoyed the hell out of this episode and have been enjoying the show lately.
