Sasha[c] vs Nia Jax[c]
Nice way to kick off the show, with a title match. Bianca and Sasha had a great statement for once
Great match from Nia Jax, that was PPV level, she was on fire. In fact, Shayna kicking Nia in the face is why she lost and isn’t champion, something that will probably cost both Nia and Shayna their tag team titles.
Nia chews out Shayna Baszler backstage so Shayna asks for a match with Bianca.
Embrace the drip
Seth Rollins has been one stylish son of a bitch lately. Since his return, he’s done nothing but look fly and hold it down on the mic. He cut a promo on Cesaro however, Shinsuke Nakamura was the one that confronted Rollins, with a Kinshasa. Rollins is taking a page from Daniel Bryan’s book, putting over talent that has been here a while and deserve a good push.
Street Profits vs Rey & Dominik
Roode-Dolph are on commentary for the entire thing was a nice touch however, they weren’t as fun as I thought they would be.
After Los Mysterios beat the Profits in a good match, Alpha Academy were next up. I was POSITIVE that Los Los Mysterios were going to win again but Alpha Academy is still trading wins; it was their turn to win this week.
Street profits joined the champs on commentary but didn’t add much. The tag team title picture is interesting, I expect Alpha Academy or Los Mysterios to get them at Wrestlemania in a multi man match. The Street Profits should turn but that won’t happen since they are the SmackDown version of New Day.
Sami vs Corbin
Short match for Sami, he caught an End of Days after trying to cheat. Corbin has been kept surprisingly strong on SmackDown so this win was expected and meaningful. The match furthered their story but that was all so that Owen’s and Zayn could interact because Sami asked Kevin to watch his match to see the “conspiracy” against him. After the match and a disagreement, a nasty Helluva kick to Owens may have just kicked off a Wrestlemania match.
No time to waste
Apollo and Big E have a sit down interview but sitting down was the last thing on either of their minds. The two men leave the interview, looking for each other to squash the beef, with a quick grilling. Big E whooped Apollo’s ass all backstage.
Gonna take me a while to get used to Big E’s serious promos.
Bianca Belair vs Shayna Baszler
Good! That match better not have had an ending.
Natalya and Tamina rush the ring, attacking both women. Never been more relieved to see them. They looked great, ready for action and intimidating. I only hope that something comes of this push, maybe they can win the tag team titles in a multi team match at Wrestlemania.
For the first time in 10 years!
Another surreal feeling for Edge and the Edgeheads out there, seeing Edge on the blue brand is great after all this time. Daniel Bryan on commentary pointed out that he loved the way Edge has changed his style and I think we all agree. Edge wins rather abruptly but the match was oldschool, something I’m sure Jey and Edge have wanted to do for a long time. Roman ends the show with a Spear of his own.
Honorable mentions
Heyman went off on Talking Smack
Final take
Solid show as usual, I wanted a little more for a go home show but FastLane is kinda like the go home show for Wrestlemania.
