On the Edge
Edge addresses his actions, dropping another fantastic promo. He calls out Daniel Bryan for being an ultimate opportunist And informs us that the Rated R Superstar is back. Not sure how I feel about this, so soon. This could have at least been saved for SummerSlam.
8 man tag
Alpha Academy & Roode-Dolph [c] vs Profits & Los Mysterios
Alpha Academy is doing pretty good. I like the mini push, I like the promo as well. These guys deserve the time and shine they are getting. Graves really was putting Otis over on commentary as a guy realizing his potential. Alpha Academy won, Gable was right about outshining the tag champs. I still believe Rey and Dominik will be the next tag team champs but I could be wrong.
Corey Graves talks to Cesaro and Seth. The segment was ok but i wanted so much more from Cesaro, it’s easy for Rollins to upstage anyone.
Natalya vs Shayna[c]
This match should be revisited at a later date. Shayna has taken so many pinfalls its ridiculous, this was a quick and painless one though. Honestly it’s fine for now because I believe that the story being told is that Shayna will not take any losses after she splits from Nia because Nia was the reason she was losing.
The other tag teams all rush out one after another, everyone gets their shit in and Tamina are the ones left standing tall. Usually this is a terrible formula for a women’s segment but everyone looked good and an unexpected team stood tall when it was all over.
Red carpet
Logan Paul music slaps and Sami dancing to it was funny as hell. The trailer for the documentary was an actual trailer, didn’t look half bad. Logan Paul was tremendous; slowly but surely realizing that Sami is out of his mind and inevitably siding with Kevin Owens whom he spoke to backstage. Owens stuns Zayn out of nowhere, Sami gets revenge backstage.
Bianca vs Carmela
Mela didn’t need a loss here. Sasha didn’t need to come out and have a confrontation with Bianca either. I have hated the build for this, it’s not good at all. It’s not true to the characters. Also, Carmela is a former champ, someone they should keep strong like Style is being kept strong over on Raw.
Street Fight
Daniel Bryan vs Jey Uso
Edge on commentary added a cool element. All eyes were on Daniel Bryan. Bryan showed how brutal he can be by using a chain on Jey and then immediately attacking Edge, followed by a Yes lock on Roman Reign on the ramp. All 3 men have turned to the darkside; this story is getting better every week.
Honorable mentions
Billie Kaye gives a resume to Carmela and Carmela takes a look at it.
New interviewer has a slightly different look.
Apollo promo, challenges Big E to new match at Wrestlemania.
Final take
The road to Wrestlemania has been great for some, good for other and men for others. The title pictures look very promising with every title looking as if they will change hands. The Wrestlemania edition of SmackDown is going to set the weekend up properly so I’m very much looking forward to that.
