Cesaro challenges Seth Rollins
Main event Jey Uso wants some more of Cesaro, yelling at him from the ramp. Seth Rollins wants a piece too so the Tribal Chief comes out to make a statement. Daniel Bryan steps in on Cesaro’s behalf to make sure there are no shenanigans. Match was long but that was a great stretch of segments. Cesaro and Daniel Bryan win and Seth leaves. Cesaro swings Jey twice while calling out Roman but the Chief never shows up.
Nia[c] vs Tamina
Shayna is tired of being an afterthought so she attacks. Tamina won via disqualification, very very stupid booking. Give Tamina a clean win over Nia to look more credible. Nia Jax hasn’t taken a pinfall in quite some time. The protection of Jax is ridiculous.
Apollo[c] vs Kevin Owens
A good match for Apollo to polish his character.
Loved the finish, great classic heel finish. Azeez gets the best of KO and KO sells the hell out of it. The is a great midcard feud that will keep Owen’s strong while helping make Apollo. Bug E vs KO is also a very interesting feud as they exchanged words backstage prior to the match. Sami Zayn dances over Owens’ body after he is knocked out, I smell another tshirt opportunity.
Story time with Aleister Black
A great vignette bringing the character back to storytelling. A wonderful addition to a roster that seems just a little bit stale. Shinsuke is probably his first feud, I like the idea of that. I hope he joins Seth down the road and they reinvent the tag team division and if all goes well, maybe get a faction going that dominates the show. Aleister Black can take his time getting into position to become a title holder.
Los Mysterios vs Alpha Academy
Dominick was worked the whole match until Rey finally got tagged in for the win. I really thought Alpha Academy would win this one but trading wins is t bad for these two teams. One of these teams will win the tag titles next and it’ll be the right move.
One more time
Cesaro congratulates the Mysterios while coming out to get his answer from Roman about a title match. Roman simply looks past Cesaro to offer Daniel Bryan another shot at the belt with one stipulation, if Bryan loses he leaves SmackDown for good.
Honorable mentions
Kayla Braxton did very well tonight.
Bayley calls out Bianca backstage while Montez Ford overheard it all.
Final take
The return of Aleister Black adds even more intrigue to the number 1 show. KO in the IC title picture adds quite a bit of legitimacy to a title that needs it with a new champion. I’m loving the way the midcard is shaping up because the main title picture is as good as it gets.
