6 person tag

Bayley, Dolph[c] & Roode[c] vs Belair[c] & The Street Profits

Bianca Belair video package makes her look like a big star. Nice to have something to introduce your top star at the start of a match incase you didn’t know. Roode and Ziggler interrupt Bianca’s promo but the Street Profits weren’t having that and so our match begins. That match was really fun, that’s the type of match you see at a house show. Great tag action between heated rivals and the rookie vs the veteran. This is a show starter, quality wrestling with defined roles. The good guys take this victory.

Opportunity?

Tamina & Natalya vs Shayna[c] & Nia[c]

Natalya and Tamina take out the tag champs mid interview, right before their match. Tamina looks to put Nia away immediately. Tamina should have just squashed Nia, would have made future matches between them far more interesting. Nia is far too protected to be taken seriously at this point. The underdogs win and Shayna takes another pin. Another pin for the biggest badass in the women’s division. WWE needs turnout other people in these rolls not use up their top talent to take pins for a wrestler that is injury prone and careless.

Reality

Story time with Aleister Black. Who is father? Don’t know but I have a feeling that it will be a solid payoff and something that fades away over time. I’m hoping Aleister Black gets his old music back and old ring gear. His first feud should be very important, maybe Rey Mysterio, that sounds about right.

Wrestlemania rematch

Big E vs Apollo Crews[c]

Corny faces again from E, just speak plainly; always with the cartoon faces. This is why I don’t want a feud between him and Roman, he’s going to look silly. Commander Azeez attacked Big E just as he was going for the cover. KO falls short of rescuing E when Sami shows up to take out KO.

The IC title picture looks important, sometimes it just an afterthought but there are plenty of former champs that want the strap, including a former Universal Champion. After a couple of really good feuds I expect Aleister Black to get the title and hold on to it for about a year, then move up the card.

One last shot

Throughout the night, wrestlers of today and yesterday weighed in on who would come out on top of tonight’s main event. I like when they do that, it makes it more sports-like. The match happened and it was as good as you would expect. Roman went over clean, Daniel 3is now banned from SmackDown. Cesaro came to save the day but DB was con chairto’d while he looked on. The biggest story is not the match or the aftermath, it’s Roman’s new music. Roman Reigns is the godfather, the head other table, now he has music to help solidify that.

Honorable mentions

  1. Throwback edition of SmackDown next episode.

  2. Seth gets his rematch against Cesaro on the next episode.

  3. Michael Cole is starting to get to me.

  4. Los Mysterios want to make history.

Final take

The main event is the most important part of the show and it delivered. The start to the show was a banger too. SmackDown just flows really well. Roman is the biggest draw in the industry right now, its undeniable now. A strong top star equals a strong program.
