SmackDown Quick Takes 5/7/21

Throwback edition The tribal chief states facts about Daniel Bryan. Paul Heyman gets Roman corpsing when he does a fake 10 bell salute. Roman replaces Bryan with someone who will acknowledge him, Jimmy Uso returns! Should have done way more with that, not just let him stroll out there. I’m very interested in why they brought Jimmy back so soon and with no warning. Cesaro couldn’t help himself so Seth jumped him from behind. Exactly what Cedaro deserved, he knows better, he used to be a heel.  Cesaro vs Seth Since this is the throwback edition, Teddy Long announced that there is a stipulation to the match, if Cesaro wins he gets a crack at Roman at Wrestlemania Backlash. Cesaro was going to win and we all knew it but how would he win; shenanigans gone wrong, that’s how. Ruby vs Carmela  Carmela music slaps and she should face Bianca Belair after the Bayley feud is over then face Liv Morgan in a long feud. Liv 3is the star here, not Ruby. Ruby Riott has been a huge disappointment since Ronda Rousey beat her back on Raw. The Riott Squad started off hot then they just became jobbers. Wrestlers accept that bullshit booking and just sit in catering. Bayley promo Bayley acknowledges the great champions of the past in the women’s division while talking crap and putting herself over. Bay is pretty great and deserves to be on that great list of champions when it’s all said and done. The champ kept it 100 when she came out but Bayley got the last laugh. Dolph Ziggler[c] vs Rey Mysterio  Dolph tricks Dominik into taking Rey’s place but loses in a roll up, short match, dolph should have gone much longer before losing. Disappointed in the booking of this match. Tamina vs Reginald  Not the match that Sasha vs Reggie was but decent. The feud needs more heat to it. Tamina needs to be beating Nia Jax clean because we all know they wont let her do it for the tag titles. Tamina needs a ton of one on one matches and squashes to get her character a lot more over than what she is right now. 10 man tag Apollo,Corbin, Sami, Otis & Chad Gable vs Big E, Shinsuke, KO & the Street Profits Really cool match. The promos before the match were especially cool. I really liked this match far more that I thought I would. It wasn’t just a throw away match, it was something everyone was putting considerable effort into. Corbin wins things for his team, the heels needed a big win here. What’s it gonna be? Roman talks to Jey about Jimmy and they all meet it the ring to discuss things. Earlier, Jimmy said he ain’t nobody’s bitch and said that Jey is Roman’s bitch. That didn’t sit well with Roman or Seth Rollins who had visited him earlier about his encounter with Jimmy. Cesaro crashes the party and the hesitation between the Usos causes all of them to get laid out by the Swiss Superman. Honorable mentions  They slowly transforming Kayla into JoJo. Seth Rollins speaks as an equal to Roman, watch that dynamic as things play out in the future. Final take The show felt phoned in a bit. I was hoping to have more oldschool things done but what they did do was pretty damn good. I liked the show.
