Sami & Apollo[c] vs Big E & KO
Great tag action, furthering individual feuds. Apollo is doing great work with Azeez. Sami Zayn is a bit of an afterthought and a punching bag but thats a good thing at the moment. Kevin Owen’s needs to move on from Sami or be the reason he turns face. Get these guys in some other segments, put them on Raw, get them involved in something meaningful.
Carmella vs Liv
Morgan wins this match as expected. I know the rubber match is going to be good and that is exactly what they’ve been buying towards but there is no story to it. Liv has done her part but there’s just no real interaction between them besides their matches. Maybe their is Twitter stuff, if it is its not compelling.
Ding dong
The visionary of drip, what an incredible name, Seth is doing it big and he barely wrestles. A great segment by two dynamic heels. I’d love to see more, I see a mixed tag in the future. The only problem is that Bianca Belair and Cesare may not have enough personality to hang with their counterparts. Seth and Bayley have been at the top for a long time and have literally won everything. Keep them together and move the mid-career along before the fans realize who the bigger stars are and they outshine the competition.
Bayley and Seth take their digs, pouring salt in the wound of Bianca and Cesaro. The bell rings and Seth gets the door, big mistake. The Swiss Superman is behind the door, Cesaro beats Rollins out his pants, literally. Excellent segment that ended with Bianca getting the last laugh, literally.
Family business
The show opens with Roman and Jey talking. Meanwhile, Jimmy is in the ring calling out Roman for everything he’s done, even questioning his involvement in the tag title match last week. Jimmy waits for Roman in the Usos’ locker room.
Rey Mysterio also wants the smoke with Reigns. Very passionate promo in a backstage interview, he has really been good since coming back to WWE. Rey Mysterio is heated, he calls out Roman and The Tribal Chief responds. Hell in a Cell is the only option Rey even considers to get back at Reigns. Rey is handed a kendo stick and proceeds to go to work on the Universal Champion. Dominik joins in on the beat down only to get powerbombed out of the ring. The best part about Roman Reigns is that he gets something correct that not even those before him did correctly, he knows how to look vulnerable. Cena couldn’t do it, Undertaker was awful at it (he never sold well in my opinion) but Roman looks beatable when it counts.
Honorable mentions
Shinsuke Nakamura and Boggs get the best of Corbin.
Street Profits continue their beef with Alpha Academy and Otis cuts off the beard, great way to get heat.
Final take
The show went by so fast because it was so good. They are clicking on all cylinders. The midcard is interesting, very engaging, with a champ that is doing some of the best heel work anyone has done in recent history.
