Gauntlet match
R Truth and Lashley kick things off, a rivalry I want to see continue. R Truth and Lashley are opposites which makes for good television. Andrade makes his return in a losing effort on a foreign house show, this was after Bobby Lashley turns into the biggest loser with a vicious attack on R Truth after his loss. So Truth beats Andrade and then beats Erick Rowan via DQ, is Truth going to win this thing? Nope. AJ Styles get a loud reception,
Rey Mysterio is taken out by the OC in the back then the Undertaker squashes AJ Styles with one chokeslam, looks at the weird trophy he won then walks very slowly up that very long ramp. Interesting booking but entertaining. At least they didn’t trot the Undertaker out on TV just to throw him in our face to promote a Saudi show but the internet wrestling community won’t see it that way.
Miz & Morrison vs New Day [c]
Slow build to the match, still a fun match. There was some good stuff as there always is with New Day. Miz & Morrison become your new SmackDown Tag Team Champions and the show is off to a good start.
Angel garza vs Humberto Carillo
Garza wins a standard match between two phenomenal athletes. These two are at such a high level that the match they had was just going through the motions at this point so it was not disappointing however, there plenty left on the table.
Murphy & Rollins [c] vs Street profits
I really thought we had new cups when this match got started. This was the time and the place to take the titles off of Murphy and Rollins. The Street Profits will get the Raw Tag Team Championships soon, we just don’t know how soon, sometime this year though.
Mansoor vs Dolph Ziggler
Mansoor wins a very long and drawn out match. He needs a significant loss in his career to really build his story up, right now all he does is win and make speeches. Good for him but this match did nothing for Dolph Ziggler and will not be a big deal in the long run for Mansoor.
Ricochet vs Brock Lesnar [c]
No need to squash Ricochet but he lasted longer than Kofi. I was very disappointed in the booking here. Sure, make Lesnar look strong but at the expense of one of the best athletes this business has ever seen? Ridiculous. It’s all about where Ricochet goes from here, I’m happy he got a title show and that is very important but the booking did him no favors.
Roman vs Corbin
Roman Reigns goes over, the steel cage was unnecessary but I am glad it’s over. I don’t know who’s in Reigns’ future but it’s gonna be marginally better than this feud was. Since Baron Corbin did most of the talking so whoever gets into a feud with Roman will have their work cut out for them.
Bayley[c] vs Naomi
Good match, deserved more crowd participation. It was a regular match that could have easily have been put on SmackDown which is a large step up from the exhibition match Natalya and Lacey Evans had, not that Lacey and Natalya weren’t good. The first women’s match was to make history, this match was to show that these matches are just a part of the show like any other match on the card. Naomi lost so back down the ladder she goes and I guess Lacey Evans will win at Elimination Chamber and face Bayley at Wrestlemania.
Fiend[c] vs Goldberg
WTF, Goldberg won, podcast later.
Honorable mentions
The OC beats the Viking Raiders on the kickoff show.
In closing
Booking continues to be the name of WWE’s existence. Booking of the first half of the show was fine then there were liberties taken that makes everyone question what the hell is wrong with Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard. The show gets a D-.
