Finn Balor vs Timothy Thatcher

Classic mat skills wrestling match, you don’t see them very often anymore but when you do they are really cool. Balor won a hard fought battle. Thatcher needs to get back to winning and very fast.

Io Shirai [c] vs Dakota Kai

Classic injury angle, Io was worked hard. Raquel Gonzalez even got involved but Io kicked out and retained. Rhea Ripley saved her from a post match beat down and had one hell of a stare down with Raquel. A turn for Ripley was heavy teased as Io Shirai celebrated.

Ladder match for the North American Championship

I hate to say it but this was one of the sloppiest matches I’ve seen out of NXT. Velveteen Dream didn’t do a whole lot but Priest and Reed had some really cool moments. Cameron Grimes was the person they teased as the winner but in the end Damian Priest will live forever as a North American champion. So cool feuds will come out of this but I was largely uninterested. I’m looking for to this week’s episode of NXT on Wednesday to see what happens with the fallout from Takeover 30.

Karrion Kross vs Keith Lee [c]

Simple. Tell a story. A story was told. It was not a fairytale ending for Keith Lee. Kross needs more polish, he is not used to working with guys with so much experience and it shows in his matches. Kross needs to slow down and work a lot more effectively like Orton and Thatcher. Keith Lee is on his way to RAW since he lost so we’ll have to see who is man enough to come after Kross.

Final take

Not a top tier Takeover for me, commentary was sloppy and everyone spoke over each other too much. The main match wasn’t as compelling as it should have been. It was just not great, good but not great.
