By the numbers:
AEW: 865,000
NXT: 717,000
-the internet and Showbiz (pizza?)
Charlotte Flair didn’t pop a rating but Becky Lynch did, that’s a big deal in small circles.
Tag team division
AEW
Best Friends are finally doing something while the team that’s supposed to be bad asses(Butcher, Blade & Bunny) have been reduced to fodder. Debut like shit, get treated like shit.
NXT
Grizzled Young Veterans are a team I’ve got my eye on. I used to have my eye on Forgotten Sons but they kinda dropped the ball, they need more depth to their characters. Riker needs to wrestle and be relevant.
Women’s division
AEW
Take the women’s matches and put them on Dark. While the 4 ladies did well individually they sucked putting a cohesive fatal 4 way together and it looked really really bad. I saw the match at a bar and it did not read correctly, too much comedy and nonsense going on in the entire show to be honest.
There was a pole on Twitter that asked which AEW Revolution match needed more promotion and the women’s title match was an option and guess who didn’t matter on the show, Statlander and Awesome Ko….I mean Nyla Rose.
NXT
Even though Charlotte wasn’t a draw her presence added star power and gravitas to the main event and the brand as a whole. Mia Yim is becoming relevant again and Dakota Kai is going to become a major player by the end of the year.
Promos/ vignettes
AEW
AEW had a couple of Tony Schiavone interviews which are more common now but still underdeliver in the most amazing way.
NXT
So many vignettes, the audience at home really had something to sink their teeth into. Finn Balor’s promo was better than just about anything I’ve heard Cody say during his never-ending and go nowhere feud with MJF.
Honorable mentions
The Elite sit-down interview with Jim Ross was a good attempt to add some dimensions to the characters involved but it wasn’t executed at a high level, too much overacting.
In closing
NXT felt more like a go home show while AEW left quite a bit on the table.l with it’s angles. The weigh-in was pretty weak in general, all it had was some run-ins and some blood. AEW is getting better in terms of settling down and defining their product more, it’s just not a top of the line product.
