By the numbers:
AEW: 701,000
NXT: 592,000

As I always say, nevermind the “key demo” nonsense, the 7-day viewership is also of no concern. Falling below 600k is not good but it’s not quite as bad as it looks. Let’s keep it real, both shows are in the same spot. No one is watching and that hurts the entirety of the business. AEW doesn’t seem like it’s a product that’s ready for the spotlight and the numbers back that up. Until there are millions of viewers watching these shows regularly each week, wrestling will continue to be the bastard of all sports.
Honorable mentions
Britt Baker may be too green to be on the main stage. AEW needs to seriously consider some sort of performance center because too much of their talent is not Television ready.
AEW had a pretty terrible go home show, they haven’t had many of them and they have utterly failed each time. Cody and Lance Archer are probably the main event and they weren’t featured on the go home show.
Jon Moxley and Brodie Lee don’t seem like a big deal at all.
Takeover NXT looks like a loaded show and the “In Your House” name is perfect for the PPV.
Final take
The biggest story is always going to be that there are no new fans. AEW doesn’t appear to care about them and will continue to create a toxic fanbase with the diehards they already have. Wrestling needs more eyes on it. The product as a whole is struggling. What good is an AEW victory if no one gives a damn. People still don’t know what AEW is or that they even exist. There needs to be a real effort to get new fans by both companies.
